listen to your wife she is correct when she said you have to get a certification from the LTO
for the following reasons:
the Phillipines have no reciprocal licence exchange agreement with Alberta, Canada so full testing will be required to get an Alberta licence even if you have a valid Philippine Driver`s license, and you had been driving for eight years now so you`re okey, they only need 2 year driving experience.
When you land in Canada, you go to a registry and take your learners test. you hand in the certification and the licence. That being said, in order to apply for the GDL exemption, you don`t have to wait for a year to get your road test for your Class 5.
Upon arrival, you can still use your your valid (non-expired) LTO license for 3 months upon arrival
pag sa alberta ang bagsak mo . . malaking bagay ang LTO Certification (preferred galing sa Head Office kasi ang iba dito ay hindi honored lalo na ang galing sa probinsya dahil iba iba ang format). PAg may LTO Certification ka at nakasaad doon na matagl ka nang nagmamaneho sa Pilipinas at wala kang major violation eto ang mga benefits:
1. pagdating mo sa ALberta ay pwede ka agad kumuha ng "learners" exam (intercative) at pag pumasa ka pwede mong e show sa kanila ang LTO Certification mo at e challenge ang Graduated Drivers License (GDL/Learners) at pag granted ang challenge mo ay pwede ka agad kumuha ng "road test" for CLASS 5 (GDL). Kung wala kang LTO cert ay hindi mo pwedeng e challenge ang GDL Learners at dapat maghintay la pa ng 1 year bago ma qualify to take the road test.
2. PAg may LTO Certification ka ay malamang makakuha ka ng discounted insurance premium about 15% sa sasakyan pag bumili ka, malaking bagay yan. Kaya kung nasa MAnila ka na rin . .kumuha ka na pag ang target mo ay Alberta its really worth it
