Thanks Steph C...Please help me too with regards to the processing fees, do we need to pay for my eldest son who is not accompanying us to Canada?I'm confused with this table of visa fees:

Family member 22 years or older, or who is married, engaged or in a common-law relationship, regardless of age $550

Does this mean that my husband needs to pay for this?My eldest son is 23 yrs old he doesn't fall in any of the types A, B or C under the sponsored person's dependents, am I correct? Please help me if i am wrong because as I understand, we need to pay $ 1190 all in all ( $ 75 for the sponsor, $ 475 for me the applicant, $150 for my youngest son who is accompanying to Canada and $490 for my right of permanent residence fee ).

Another thing, my husband is planning to come down again on June or July, do we need to inform the embassy that he will come after he submits our application or should we include a copy of his tickets in coming down?

Thanks a lot...

God bless...
It's not very clear, but we learned this the hard way - you don't pay the $150 for a non-accompanying child.

If your husband is a PR he can visit you but he is meant to remain inside Canada while sponsoring. I believe he can visit but not sure the length or even if they check (I don't think Canada actually will check how long he visits but I'm not sure) So I actually wouldn't mention that, seeing as you don't need the tickets to prove the genuineness of your relationship.

Steph my youngest son is accompanying so we need to pay for him $150, my eldest son is the one who isn't accompanying which I'm not sure if we still need to pay that $550 for the 22 yrs old or above?

He is single, not in common law nor engaged to be married but will be enrolling in college this June...Does he still fall in any category for him to be able to come with us?

How old is he? I think up to 22 years old and in college is the limit? Other people maybe can chime in..

No, you don't have to pay for non-accompanying. My partners kids are pre-teen, they will join us later when they are big enough, so they had a medical exam. I read the instructions wrong and paid $150 each for them, but then I phoned the call center and they said I don't have to pay for non-accompanying. So they refunded me.

My eldest is 23 yrs old and my youngest is 15 yrs old on June. From the guide I read that my eldest son should be studying and dependant on me financially but before he was 23 yrs old, he stopped schooling to work...We will also help him to come to Canada after his college but I think it will be through a work permit? I don't have an idae as of now on how we could get him soon after graduation here in the Philippines...

I would really appreciate advices or ideas from those who know about these things...

God bless...

Thanks a lot...

Can you work with this? Otherwise you should just get him to apply for a work visa, I'm sure there are plenty of options.

Dependent children

A son or daughter is dependent when the child:

is under the age of 22 and does not have a spouse or common-law partner;
is over the age of 22 and has been continuously enrolled as a full-time student and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22;
became a spouse or a common-law partner before the age of 22 and has been continuously enrolled as a full-time student and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since becoming a spouse or common-law partner, or
is over the age of 22 and depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22 because of a physical or mental condition.

Specific thread for spouse and family class... let us share our timeline here...

after 3months ng "in process" of my PR application at manila visa office eto pa din waiting...

nasa signature ko yun timeline ko...
I want to share my time line until now still waiting if approve or not.

In my case, I sponsored my 2 kids 16 and 19 y/o at the time. They received their application for permanent residence on February 2012. Decision made on May 2012 about the application. Completed all the requirements even the medical. Passport request on July 2012 and sent the passport August 2012 until Last week of JANUARY 2013 I DIDN'T hear anything what is the status. so, I made an Inquiry 4th week of January 2013. I check my eCAS and found,

We started processing application on February 21, 2013.

2nd week of March 2013 I received an email regarding additional requirements (update family information) to get another NBI and to do the MEDICAL again and done on the 25 March 2013 and the guard on duty received the additional requirements on the same day.

So far, my children are waiting. I even sacrifice not to enroll my youngest for the trimester (summer) because I assume they will receive their passport last april. THEY TOOK THEIR PASSPORT 08 AUGUST 2012. about to 9 months hold the passport.

Typically it takes 1 month 2 weeks from new Medical to Decision made, so maybe this week or next week?

^in our case, CEM received our passports May 1, 2012, got a remed request for me and my 2 kids last week of January 2013,
had our remedical Feb 20, came back after a week on Feb 27 for respiratory evaluation, CEM received the medical reports on March 12 and visas were released March 20th 2013

We requested for GCMS twice. My husband then inquired in January after he was fed up of waiting.
That was the only time they sent us an email for the remedical after 5 months of waiting whether we got an approval of the medical extension which they requested back in August 2012.

It was really frustrating, I thought nga mag anniversary ang passports namin sa embassy. Hang on there! malapit na din yan. :)

Hi CONGRATULATION , no need na mag fill up ng B4 form or personal effects meron na hong pinamimigay sa Plane ng mga Crew papunta sa port of entry mo dito sa Canada ay yung Declaration Card na may Yes or No ang sagot ang sample nasa baba tapos ang ginawa ko ho sa mga dala ko sa isang bond paper nilista ko lang ganito :

For my Check-in Luggage
-clothes
-shoes
-books
-perfumes
- accessories
- etc.

For my Hand Carry
- important documents
- jewelries
- laptop
- etc.

Declaration Card link:

NOTE : make sure na wag magdala ng mga bawal like dairy products, meat products, seeds, halaman, firearms, matutulis tulad ng knife, at maraming sigarilyo 1 rim lang po pwede. Kase mag aalarm po yan na red sa screen pag iniscan at pag nag alarm na red sa screen pabubuksan ang luggage for inspection. [/color][/i][/b]

Hi Eric,
Your kids were declared as unaccompanying dependents before? Like are their names are in your COPR when you got your PR, right? Then, did you still apply for sponsorship for them even though they have been pre approved? And what are the requirements you submitted together with the generic application form?my son is 12 years old and he is pre approved with my papers, I just got my PR this year and we are planning to sponsor him and be with me for next school year here in Canada.thank you so much...hopefully soon you will get the passport for the kids...
