Correct.

But if you're going to pay it 20 days after sending it in when you get AOR1 why not just include it to begin with.

You can definitely do it. It helps to make sure all informations are included so that no additional delays take place. AOR2 shouldn't be too far since you already have your AOR1.

I see by your signature that it was 7 months from the time your file was transferred to Singapore to the re-request for the medicals. I assume you submitted the medicals with the initial application and they had expired by then, is that correct?

We received the letter that my SA was approved and the file transferred to Singapore on July 28 and now I see that it is posted that they started to process my wife's application on Aug. 01. We did the e-medicals in Bangkok on Aug. 06. The hospital said they forward the results direct to CIC.

I see that in spite of the 7 months between your file transfer and the medical re-request your whole process was about 1 year. Is that pretty normal?

My whole process was about 10 months from application to PPR. The remedical probably pushed us back a month in there. Our original medical did expire.

As ImABule said, most get processed between 6-10 months. In fact, I've seen people processed less than 3 months even out of SVO. Depends on the time of the year and backlogs due to many factors.

It means that the application is NOT incomplete and can be processed. More information could be requested as needed.

Hello. I need some assistance before I apply for my spouse's sponsorship. We are kinda lost right now and do not know whether to apply for sponsorship or not.

I am a canadian citizen who lives in Alberta and my husband is living in toronto & he's on a student visa currently. We got married last month in a civil ceremony and he went back to toronto to resume his studies. Now plan is to move in together once his study completes in december. I have been trying to move to Toronto but not able to find a job there yet. On Cic website it is mentioned that we can only apply for a SOWP if we live together which we are not at the moment so, we are thinking to apply for a Post Graduate Work Permit instead which he will become eligible for after completing his studies but we also realized he cannot apply for PGWP if he has an active sponsorship application in place already.

The reason we prefer PGWP is because he can travel outside Canada anytime which he will not be able to on SOWP. Also, PGWP takes about 45 days to obtain whereas SOWP can take between 3-5 months. We are very confused as to what we should do. When should we apply for the inland spousal sponsorship and should we apply it from Alberta or Toronto. What is the right process? Please advise!

You seem to be confused about a number of facts...

You can only apply for an OWP (open work permit) if you decide to sponsor him inland, are living together and submit an OWP application along with the inland sponsorship application.

You do not qualify for what is technically called a SOWP. This is reserved for partners of individuals who are in Canada as foreign workers or international students. So the two of you don't qualify since you are a citizen.

Not sure why you think he can't apply for a PGWP if he has an active sponsorship application in place. He can.

Could you please give me more information about why someone cannot apply for a PGWP while a sponsorship application is in progress? I've been previously told on this forum that there is no problem applying for a PGWP with a pending sponsorship. Hi can anyone tell me after submitting the documents how much time it takes or when can you link your application i mean if i send the documents today when will my assessment starts i do know it takes 55 days but when the first day starts? And when can i see link it online to see what's going on with my file...

The reason I said I will not be able to apply for Post Graduate Work Permit after applying for Inland Spousal Sponsorship is because I checked the PGWP Questionnaire and the questions look like this:

1. What would you like to do in Canada? Work.
2. How long are you planning to stay in Canada? Temporarily - more than 6 months. (If I select permanent here, it automatically takes me to the "Express Entry Application" which is not what I am intending to do.
3. Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and is 18 years or older? Yes
4. Have you been told by a Citizenship and Immigration Canada office that you are approved in principle for permanent residence in Canada? No
5. Have you submitted a permanent resident application in Canada? Yes

The answer to Question 2 goes against my sponsorship application it seems and hence, I think if I apply for Spousal Sponsorship I will not be able to apply for PGWP and there's a chance the PGWP may get rejected due to that.

It will be helpful if someone can steer me in right direction because we are thinking to wait until January to apply for the Spousal Application and not sure if that's what we should do.

Those questions have nothing to do with your PR app; the applications are completely separate from each other. You are answering those based solely on your intention to be here as a temporary worker with a PGWP.

Apply outland now and then apply for the PGWP when you finish your studies.

My spouse is from India and applying outland would mean longer processing times. The PGWP he would get is going to be valid for 1 year only as his course was 1 year long. Can we apply Inland and still put Temporarily for Question 2.
