Hi
Can someone kindly tell me how long would it take to get decision made? My husband online status right now is
1. His application for PR received on sep 29, 2014
2. His application has been in process since july 27, 2015
3. Medical has been recieved
In July 6th they asked for anothet police certificate which we submitted a month later on August 7th theh asked for my husband military exemption which we submitted again and on sep 5th i received our photos back that i had submitted for proof of relationship.

Can some one please tell me how long more we have to wait?

Thank you so much in advance
We can give you a rough estimate if you tell us the VO, but it's pretty meaningless as each case is different.

I believe you are going through the London office. If i am correct its a matter of time . I have also been in process from July 17th, others the same time have been getting Dm. Cross our fingers and hopefully we don't have long left to wait.

Hello,

I am a permanent resident and working under a skilled class. I Have my wife here with me in Canada on a Visitor visa. I am sponsoring her as an inland application. I will be sending her file this week

Can I send an OWP application with her file Permanent residency file ? If yes, What form do I have to send. Basically I just need instruction on the forms and the documents.

How much fee do I have to pay for her immigration?

do I have to pay Principal applicant (including $75 for sponsorship) $550.00?

Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00?

Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00?

Is it ok to include the Workpermit with the application.

I will be very thankful to any of the replies.

do I have to pay Principal applicant (including $75 for sponsorship) $550.00? Yes.

Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner $550.00? No, because in your case the person that you are sponsoring IS your SCLP.

Right of Permanent Residence Fee $490.00? Yes.

Is it ok to include the Workpermit with the application. Yes and by doing so, will mean that she will have `Implied Status' throughout the process (as long as she still has legal visitor status on the day that CIC receives your applications. This means that she will not need to renew her visitor visa.

I will be very thankful to any of the replies.
The total amount will be $1295, of which $490 could be deferred until the end of the process, if needed, but it would probably create an additional delay...for an already lengthy process. Make sure that you submit the latest version of all forms and that they are signed in the proper places! This is extremely important!

Good luck!

How soon is too soon to pay the fees? After I get married I want to visit my husband and pay the fees and wait until I get my marriage certificate in the mail and then send off my application soon after. Is 3 weeks prior too soon?

You could pay 3 years ahead of time. As long as the fee amounts don't change in the meantime, it's fine.

I figured as much, but I wanted to be sure.

I'm planning on "visiting" my spouse for three weeks after we get married in November and staying for the duration of the application process. I'm from the US. In terms of crossing the border and being let in the country, would it look better to have proof I have paid the fees with me or paying the fees later and having the extra money in my savings if they ask how much I have for the trip. I will have a return ticket, and as of then still have a job and apartment, so there's my ties to the US. I have to reason to be paranoid about being refused entry, right?

2. There is no work permit with an outland application. If you applied inland once you are both in Canada, there is an option to apply for a work permit but inland takes more than TWICE as long as outland and is not recommended for Brits.
How is it even possible to be here when they know he is visiting his spouse/girlfriend? Wouldn't they automatically reject the tourist visa?

No - they won't automatically reject the tourist visa. Some people are approved.

It seems he/she is talking about a British citizen, who is visa-exempt, so as long as they satisfy the visitor requirements, they can live in Canada quite easily. It's kind of backwards, but having a PR application in process does help you if you are from a visa-exempt country, but it seems to do the opposite if you are from a non-visa country.

Thank you Ponga for all of the information you provided.

I will pay the $490 as well right away just to avoid any delays. my Wife's Visitor visa is expiring on 31st December 2015. as per the info you provided does it mean If I send her application today or tomorrow with the OWP then she will be able to stay in canada with me as she will be on Implied status right?

The other question I have is Do we send the OWP application in separate envelope or it will be in the same envelope with the immigration application? If its in the same Envelope do I have to put 5710 in the front or the back and do I have to attach any letter saying its for the owp?

Please advise.

And can you please also let me know
What form do I have to submit with my Wife's inland application. Note: She is currently on a Visitor Visa

Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada as a Visitor or Temporary Resident Permit Holder (IMM 5708) (PDF, 448.67 KB)
Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada as a Student (IMM 5709) (PDF, 464.73 KB)
Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710) (PDF, 458.69 KB)
As mentioned previously, she will submit form IMM 5710. Even with CIC's shortcomings, they should be able to `figure out' that she's applying for the Pilot Program OWP that an Inland applicant (in status) is eligible for. For the question asking about her employer, just write `unknown'.

It's best to put it on top of the Inland application (in the same envelope). CIC will route it internally (perhaps even electronically) to the proper department for processing. As long as you have sent the latest version of ALL forms and ALL required signatures are in place...AND you paid the proper amount for the OWP, she should receive it within 4 months from the date that CIC receives the application.
