Hello all. I am about to lodge my sponsorship application for my husband. Problem is his police certificate was applied more than 3 months ago but issued or was only printed not more than 3 months ago. Since my spouse has a common name so and based on history nbi would take 3 weeks to release the clearance from the date of the application. Is it ok to submit the application or i have to wait for another clearance. Thank you so much for the help

CIC has changed/extended the validity of PCCs, and are now valid for 6 months (or longer if from a country where the applicant had lived previously).

Check their website for more information.

I read about that but checking on the spousal sponsorhip guide, the police certificate should be issued within 3 months prior to the submission. I was calling cic but i cant get through.

The Inland Guide hasn't been updated yet to reflect that change.

Compare the date at the bottom of the police check page, with the date on the Inland Guide.

Hi can anybody tell me how much fees do i have to pay in all? i am sponsoring my wife. And also do my wife have to send her passport size photograph only or mine also?

If you're just sponsoring your wife, you will pay a total of $1040.

The break down is:
- $75 sponsor fee
- $475 principal applicant
- $490 right of permanent residence fee (can be paid at the end if needed, but faster to pay now)

Only those being sponsored need to provide visa photographs.

No, that option has been removed. CIC will choose the VO.

Your son won't be included on dependents page of 0008. You will include him in 5481 sponsor evaluation(#6 B I think... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on the 6b) and on the additional family information IMM 5406. Otherwise since he's Canadian, he isn't included on the other forms.

You don't pay fees for your son. He's Canadian and not being sponsored.

Without any children to be sponsored, $1040. It is quite helpful to print off the sponsor and applicant guides and read through them in their entirety as well as ha e them beside u while filling out the forms.

I'm about to mail in the documents to sponsor my wife within Canada. I'm sending an application for open work permit along with sponsorship allocation.

Her visa/stay in Canada expires in June (next month) Should I also separately apply to extend her stay as visitor in Canada, or is that automatically included as part of open work permit application ?
