One qs when i want to check the application status online do i put my last name or my husband's last name .. Because its not working and i dont know why

two methods...

a) put the applicant last name with file no.(FXXXXX)

OR

b) put the SPONSOR last name with UCI (XXXXXXXXXX)

I am sponsoring my girlfriend after we're married in June of this year but she has 2 children 19 and 11, can I include both kids on the application as dependent children? what are my options? she is a very good mom and she doesn't want to leave her children and move to Canada. Yes, as long as:
-The 19 year old is 19 at the time of application, as that's the cut off age
-She has permission from their father (there's a form) or a court order allowing her to take the children. If there's even the tiniest question about this, the CIC will refuse.

A dependent child must be under 19 years of age, instead of the previous limit of under 22 years of age. Find out more about the change in the definition of a dependent child. New application kits, forms and fee information are now available. These new forms must be used starting August 1, 2014. Use this web tool to determine how your application may be affected.

I take that to mean that the child is only eligible up until his/her 19th birthday.

I agree its a little confusing. I read the new amendment over and over but it seem to be somewhat difficult to pin point an exact cut off age. Is it before the 19th birthday or before the 20th birthday. can someone explain to me please?

Well, using my simple logic (which is admittedly risky when addressing anything that CIC has in writing) tells me that MUST BE UNDER 19, means just that. If a person has celebrated their 19th birthday, how can s/he be UNDER 19?

I may have jumped the gun there, focussing only on the number 19 and not the words that come before. I agree with Ponga, you can't be 19 and aged under 19. So if you're 19, you're too old to be sponsored as a dependent.

I agree with Ponga's "simple logic" . A dependent must be 18 years of age or younger.

See if her daughter qualifies under a different immigration scheme. Perhaps a student visa, but that will not give her the same rights as permanent residency.

The daughter would have to qualify to come to Canada on her own merits. There is no way for you or her mother to bring her here through. As said above, a student visa would be an option, provided she is accepted to a school here AND is able to show sufficient funds.
