Need To ask as my husband applied for my sponsorship application.. He was in India from dec to 2 feb.. If my interview comes, does it is necessary for him to be here with me for the interview as he is doing business alone and he can't come because everything he is looking alone in Canada. Please tell me it will be fine for the immigration if I go for interview alone? Or he need to come?
Most of the time, the interview is for the sponsored person waiting for PR to be approved. I've heard of a few sponsors that went to the interview because they wanted to show they were United as a couple, and the interviewer didn't even look at them, let alone talk with the sponsor. So you're probably ok unless there is a small off chance that the visa office requests for him to be here with you.

Is there any route to complaining about a CIC call centre agent? We called CIC in regards to my husbands OWP, and we ended up getting an A$$ on the other side. He actually stopped talking to me and when I said "umm hello? you still there?" his response was "yea I refuse to talk to you, you are asking me a question twice and my answer won't change, so I'm going to sit here quiet. You ask me again and I will end the call."
Like WTF??!!! I can't ask him a question! He didn't answer my question so that's why I had to ask again. I asked to be transferred to a supervisor because he was being a jacka$$, he said "we don't do that, you can give me your email and I"ll forward you a link to leave a comment on a webpage."
I hung up at that point.

Wow! That's awful! I guess that's what we get now that they have students with minimal training working at the call centre. And little to no repercussions for extreme rudeness and disrespectful responses!

I know right?? I was shocked, I wasn't even rude to the guy nor did I swear at him (which I regretted after hanging up). I was so upset with who our government is hiring to handle immigration calls; it's their job to answer our questions, not sit quietly and ignore us.

I would think that you could also call you MP and register your complaint. They need to know what their cuts in funding are resulting in. If enough people complain when they receive such disrespectful call centre "assistance" maybe they will make some sort of change. Doubtful, but at least you won't be sitting back and justing taking it.

Hi

Complete newbie here so need some hand holding.

I am a Canadian Citizen living in Pakistan for the last nine years . I have recently applied for my wife's immigration (by the way, we have two kids together and have been married since 2005) through a local registered immigration lawyer (Lalani) and was found eligible to sponsor my wife based on information submitted. Correspondence from Mississauga (dated Feb 12, 2015) states that I have been found eligible and my file is now being transferred to the London UK Office. I have some questions that I need some help with wrt the way forward from here.

1. Now that Mississauga Office has approved Sponsor Eligibility, will the London UK office re-examine my sponsor eligibility or is this step over and London office will now only work on the spousal immigration application ?
2. CIC website states that processing time in London is now 29 months, which is strange because a month back, it was at 13 months or so. Lalani is saying that I should expect a processing time of 13-17 months. Any guidance on the timeline would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Imad

If your spouse is in Canada with you and is applying inland, then an OWP app can be submitted along with the PR app in the same envelope.

Yes, you can apply to sponsor your wife in Feb 2016. T4s are not required for the application.

1. Generally, they don't re-examine the sponsor eligibility after stage 1 approval unless something comes up in the review of the applicant.

2. 12-17 months is about right for a recent Pakistani app. Read through the last 10 pages or so of this thread for an explanation of the processing times. http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/updated-topics/-t49436.15570.html;topicseen

Many many thanks for your guidance. I looked at the spreadsheet and the forum and I can somewhat breathe now. Good stuff on the first response. Lalani was insisting that the Mississauga letter confirming sponsor eligibility doesnt mean anything and London UK office will approve the sponsor eligibility whereas CIC website says otherwise so I was completely confused. Thanks again

Hi,

1. No, the London visa office will not re-examine your sponsor eligibility, just the paperwork connected with your wife's request for PR.

Hello All,
I am newbie in this application process. I am a PR since 6 months and I am currently working in Canada.
I am about to get married and I have to bring my wife to Canada. I will be getting married in my home country.
I went through the Spousal sponsorship program and it seems that it will take almost 1.5 years to bring my spouse to Canada as a PR.
What are the other options through which I can bring my spouse as soon as possible and then go for the PR process.

Thanks in advance!

There is another option that she can come here on visitors visa but i would suggest you to apply for PR before any Other Options.
She can Apply as Inland Applicant but that takes more time than out-land applicant.
Thanks Garry! Much appreciated.
I read across a few threads here that stated that applying a visitor visa will be a negative toward the PR application or vice versa because PR application is toward permanent stay whereas visitor visa is for a temporary stay.
So I was totally confused how this would work.
Has anyone here already tried this and the application is in progress or successful.
