hello fellow group memebers
i submitted the initial documents to cic and later they rquested for certain additional documents with police report, medicals, school transcript and birth certificate from the hospital of birth,i wrote a letter to cic explaining that i was born in the house so i dnt have that registration, but i forgot to add my current birth certificate issued by the governemnt because i sent a copy of it with the initial doc,now my spouse is devastated as to how could i refuse to add the original this time,
my question is,should i send it separately or wat? my application is in the final stages as am waiting for the passport request and i dnt want my wife to grieve over this, pls advice

If CIC asked for something and you forgot to send it, then you should send a follow up letter with that information included.

there is a thread specifically for may applicants. a spreadsheet has been started to track everyone's progress. it's suggested to join the thread and post your stats so it can be added there.

I will rephrase my situation.
My to-be-spouse is Canadian citizen. I am indian citizen but living in USA on F1 visa which expires in 2016. I am currently working and have applied for work visa H1B but have not yet received the decision so it is in process. I have also applied for Canada tourist Visa and it is in process too. Have not yet heard any decision.

We plan to go for outland spouse application and submit to USA. I read that as an outland applicant , I can not get work permit in Canada.
My concern is job.
- Can I look for jobs in Canada and request company to sponsor me and meanwhile my outland application can be in progress?
- OR should I just live in USA and continue working here and once after 8 or 12 months when i get a PR then move to Canada and find a job?

Also, Can I travel to India in the mean time when my outland application is in process as we plan to apply for application in August and my wedding can be in Nov or Jan?

thanks scylla

Excellent post, thanks, but my situation is not addressed. I am Canadian citizen planning to live in the Philippines for 12 months with my girlfriend there and then apply to bring her back to Canada with me by applying for common law sponsorship there. Would that work? I know I can stay in Philippines up to 16 months with passport extensions

You will be able to apply for PR through common law once you have lived with your girlfriend for a minimum of 12 months. So that part certainly works. However it's quite possible processing will take more than 4 months (I think you should plan for at least 7) - so you may not be able to bring her to Canada with you at the 16 month mark.

- Correct, you don't qualify for an open work permit if you apply outland.
- Yes, you can certainly look for jobs in Canada. It can be quite difficult to find a job in Canada before you are legally entitled to work here.
- You can also live and continue working in the US. Really your choice.
- Yes, you can travel to India.

You can use whatever name you wish. You do NOT have to change to your husbands name in Canada. In fact, in Quebec, it's not even possible to change your name normally.

Hi all, if legal marriage is done in July, is there a specific period of time before putting forward spousal sponsorship application or it can be done as soon as possible.
Thanks

zardoz can you offer some details about this? you can't change your name in Quebec .. for how long?

lounge, you don't need to wait a specific amount of time for submitting the app after you get married.

Thanks cutepie for your quick, fast and sharp response. God bless you
I will like to ask one more question in my next post
