Hello guys and gals,

I submitted my wife's undertaking and application for csq to the address mentioned below. Its an outland application.
I used canadapost's Xpresspost and also selected the option for signature. My mail was supposed
to reach on Tuesday (2/11/2014). I checked on Tuesday morning and the status on the tracking number is showing as
"out for delivery". The status has not changed since then. Now I am not sure whether the CApost has lost my package or this just lack information on tracking of
mail. Well is there a way to find this out? I have already logged a trouble ticket with CAPost but is there any other way which is easier
I remember when I submitted my csq I went to the same office to submit my documents and the guard just told me to
drop the package in the Mailbox located in the MICC office. Maybe the mail man just dropped the package in that mailbox and forgot to take signature.

Has anyone encountered similar kind of problem? If anyone of you has submitted their undertaking applications recently did it show "Item delivered" on tracking status?

So my wife got an email a few days ago requesting the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (along with some additional documentation, which I will be mailing out ASAP)

The website seems to suggest they only ask for this fee once they're ready to issue the visa. Is that true, or is there still a chance the visa will be rejected?

Hi Leon,

I would like to ask regarding the lettet I have received with the Embassy. They
were asking me to submit my NBI, Schedule Background, Updated passport (it
expired already) and Appendix A form (passport details). My concern is I want
to follow/use already my husband's surname. And i already informed/advice via
email the Visa Office. Will it have a conflict with my application? I just took my
medical again for it already expired also but with the medical instruction that the
Embassy emailed me. I am just worried that it might be again a cause of delay
of processing my application since 2011. My ecas is already in process too.

Also, the embassy might have overlooked not sending with the Appendix A.
So what I did, i have checked it online but i cannot find it. What i have now
is the appendix a from my husband previous copy. I have also requested the
Embassy to give me either a soft or hard copy of it.

Please give me an idea if changing my Surname will affect again my
Application or will it cause a delay again? Is it right that i have send an email
stating that I will now follow the surname of my husband?

Thanks

Usually yes. My case was like that. Once I received the request for RPRF, my status changed to "In Process" and after they received it, it changed to "Decision Made". When they are requesting you pay the RPRF, it's a very good sign you'll have your CoPR very soon.

i have a question regarding this: you can pay RPRF also when you submit your application to CPC-M, right? not necessary only when they request you to.

Yes, you can pay all of your fees in advance, if you want. If your application is denied, they will refund it.

Please house, I am just wondering if someone can help me answer this question. I studied and currently live and work in Canada. I have applied for permanent residence under the CEC route and according to trend, I should be getting my PR by May 2014. The problem is that my girlfriend still lives back home and we are hoping to get married sometime this year.

Our plan is that when she gets here, she will do her masters to ease her transition into the Canadian labour market. I am looking for the fastest way possible to get her here so she can start her masters as quickly as possible. Can we get married, apply for her sponsorship, but while this is ongoing, she applies for a study permit? Would she be denied based on double intent? On the other hand, I would have wanted her to just apply for a study permit prior to our wedding but I don't see her getting this on her own without my financial support as she is not financially buoyant. I am really confused.

I would appreciate if anyone could drop some helpful advice. Thanks.

There's no black and white answer to your question.

Yes - you can certainly get married, sponsor your wife and then have her apply for a study permit. However none of us here can tell you what the chances are of that study permit being approved.

Have you considered marrying her now (before you get PR) and then adding her to your PR application so that both of you can become permanent residents at the same time? This will be fastest in terms of getting her here as soon as possible. Note that it's much more expensive to study in Canada as a foreign student than it is as a permanent resident.

Thank you so much for your quick response scylla. We have already fixed July as our wedding date. To be sincere, I never anticipated that it takes this long to sponsor spouse until I started looking into the average processing times (I saw cases of 12 months and over).

Spousal sponsorship times don't apply if you add her to your CEC application - which you must do if you marry before becoming a permanent resident of Canada. If you don't add her to your application, you are barred from sponsoring her in the family class.
