Contact the CIC call centre. You may find that it's too late now as the medical is over a year ago.

Degi, if you have been in Canada for more than a year I heard someone say you can request to submit just the RCMP clearance.
The official line though is you need a police clearance from anywhere you lived for more than six months. In pretty sure as you were there for 7 years and it wasn't that long ago, that they will require this of you. Sorry. I'm sure it's a huge pain. If you want to check on the other thing, it's worth doing, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Best to check at the Vietnamese embassy on how to get it and how long.
i've been here only 4 months now. so i guess i still have to take that police check from vietnam, since its a Socialist republic country no paper is coming to me that easily. i'll have to try then. thanks for your answer. very helpful

Hello,

My husband is from Ghana and we will be applying soon for his PR. Has anyone ever rescheduled an interview? How easily is this done? The reason I ask is we are currently living in the UK for another 7 months while he attends University and we don't want to have to fly back to ghana just for the interview when he will be going back in Oct anyway.

Thanks!

It depends what time is available for them for rescheduled interview. Call the call center or email them saying that is there any date that you can get in October for the interview.

Status:
I am PR living in Canada, spouse is living overseas, just completed the Pre medical exam. And the e-Medical report was submitted to CIC already, but no immigration file number yet. we are planning to submit the family sponsorship application soon.

Question:
Can I invite my wife to Canada before we submit the sponsorship application? or should we wait till afterwards?
What documents required for us to invite my wife? Apply for a visitor visa?

Concern:
Will the visitor visa affect the family sponsorship application if it is refused for any reason?

There is a question asking if she has ever visit me in Canada in her application form, we think it is better for us if she has visited me before the sponsorship.

Another question, she has been refused to the States. for 3 times almost 8 years ago, would this affect her immigration under family sponsorship? (there is a question: been refused admission to, or asked to leave, Canada, or any other country) Is CIC networked with States? How long does the US rejection in effect? In Canada it is 2 years as I know.
If the US refused admission is no longer in effect, should she answer Yes to this question and list details? I am afraid this will delay the sponsorship application

thanks everyone

hi savinca,
i have applied for visit visa before applying for the pr but i got refused .i advise you not to apply for visit visa before the pr ( if u are a married couple) .u should first apply for the pr then a visit visa afterward. And for the question in the application about if she had visited u before , here they mean before marriage or when u were in a relationship .
i cant help with the states refusal but i think it doesnt affect the pr application if the refusal reasons were not big reasons or criminal reasons so i think it will not affect it or delay the sponsorship .

Thanks sue89, seems safer to apply visitor visa after submitting the sponsorship application then.
As for the states visa refusal, the reason simply was "no reason", mainly because the marriage status was "single" at that time, although all documents met requirement perfectly, they just deny you if you are a pretty young lady, no matter what. :D

savinca i guess you should be prepared for a refusal of the TRV even after you apply for sponsorship. After applying for PR, CIC knows for sure that your wife wants to move permanently to Canada.

By all means, try, but get your wife to submit as much proof as possible (ties to her home country: a job, family, property ownership etc)..

I wanted to do the same thing but dropped it after i realised it's almost impossible to get approved. And spending 100$ just for a 99% sure refusal didn't seem too practical for me. I hope it works for you though, good luck!

[size=10pt]Question????

Is there any restrictions for first timer to Canada if the husband wants to bring all his wife's jewelaries and aurnaments since he is moving to Canada for good? I heard immigration makes a big deal out of this? What's the requirements?

I totally agree with you. It doesn't work that way. for visitor visa, you have to convince the immigration that you are coming back. if you applied for PR, then your intention is crystal clear; therefore, the chances of refusal in visit visa is 100%. Unless ofcourse it is an emergency reason, and you still have to prove that you will come back as the situation ease up. Still the chance is really small.

yeah, you have to do a lot of proving. obtaining a goddamn canadian visa is harder than getting a private meeting with the president :p sometimes i think they're crazy, the CIC folks. i don't blame them though, for sure they have loads of people that try to cheat the system and so on. i hope savinca will see what we wrote and not jump into it like it's going to work for sure. CIC really has a talent with crushing dreams :(

anyway congrats for your visa! hope you'll get your answer about the jewellery thing, they make a big deal out of that too? somehow it doesn't surprise me anymore ::)
