Manila requests the passport at the start of the process (rather than at the end when they are ready to issue the visa). You likely still have several months to wait. I would guess 3-6 months. The next step is that you wait until you hear from Manila again.

Thank you ;)

She should reply to the email, with the word URGENT included in the subject to request clarification.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention she said they wrote the correct file number in the subject bar.

Quick question regarding redoing medicals... Will it be the same process as the first time? Are there any changes whatsoever?

Thanks,

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a marriage certif back?

computergeek said:
Of course. The only issue is how you demonstrate to CIC that you are legally married - usually people wait for the confirmation to come back from the provincial government.

Question... does the CIC have an issue with marrying my fiance in Canada, sending in an inland app yet not declaring that intention when he goes through Customs?

I mean if he said I am here to get married they would deny entry. So will CIC have an issue with someone coming here with that intent, but not declaring it??

Depends on the province.

There is no duty to disclose that information. If asked, your fiancé should not lie to CBSA, but there is no requirement that the intention be disclosed when going through Immigration (Customs won't care - they care about what he's importing into the country).

CIC won't care, as long as there was no misrepresentation (e.g., lying).

Thanks, computergeek and thanks to everyone who responds on this forum. I have learned so much from you all and it has made my journey with my inended spouse so much easier. We will be married shortly and sending in the documentation shortly after that.

Oh, another question (lol). It can take 1-2 months to get the marriage certif. Should I send in documentation with a note regarding this? I am hoping to get it before his return date which is in mid Jan. and before we wanted to send in the docs., but you never know. I would hate to wait on this document and him apply for an extension and be denied!

Hi guys,

What's this i head that Spousal's can do their medical up front, aka before sending in the app and waiting for that client I.D. that's given to the doc doing the medical?

Holy $$%#%#%^ i'm going in circles here. The doctor said he needs that I.D. now that it's all done online... my legal assistant is telling me otherwise...

The heck do I do?

I need to apply within the next week or so, before my U.S. clearance expires =(((

Hi, I am an American citizen married to a Canadian citizen for almost 5 years. I would like to become a permanent resident of Nova Scotia and have visited Nova Scotia a number of times and for lengthy (3-4 months at a time) stays during these past 5 years. Do I have to wait the 3 years after I file for permanent residency? Is there a quicker way? Thanks!

Hi! No your wife can sponsor you right away. You have to be a permanent resident for three years to apply for citizenship

Your doctor is incorrect. You can, and ideally should, do an upfront medical before sending in your application to CIC. As such, you will not have a UCI at that point (unless you have dealt with CIC in the past). The doctor does NOT require a UCI or File number to do the medical.
Find a better doctor.
