Question about OWP..how quickly do you get implied status from sending this in? (with inland app).
Do you need to apply for extensions if you send this in?
Implied status means you retain your current status until you get a decision on your application. So it starts as soon as CIC receives your application (assuming you are in status at that point).

Ok, not sure what that means. My husband came here in Oct and has a return ticket for Jan. Our wish is he stay here. We are sending in all the apps etc by mid Dec, late Dec at the latest. Part of it will be the OWP. Will he still need to request an extension or will sending in the OWP be enough for him to stay?

I'm assuming you're submitting an Inland application. As soon as CIC receives the PR app with OWP app, he has implied status and can legally stay in Canada. So there is no need to extend or renew any visas during the entire time.
Just note the implied status ends if he leaves Canada, so he must remain in Canada during the entire processing time.

Sorry, yes, we are sending in an Inland app. He is American, I am Canadian and we want to remain together for this process. So we do not need to contact the border office and ask for an extension, just send in the app. before he is due to return in early Jan? Sorry for beating a dead horse. I am just nerve wracked with all this and don't want to make any mistakes!

Yes. Though you would have to cancel the return ticket.

If he intends to go back to US at all during the processing, even for short visits, then you should be applying outland.

He does not intend to return to the US except to visit when this process is all done. We will cancel the ticket. Should we contact the border office at any time to tell them we have sent in the docs?

No. You don't need to prove implied status to anyone, unless they specifically ask. For proof of implied status you would need to keep receipts of the fees paid, and proof that CIC has received the application (like delivery confirmation from courier).

After two years? Great. Keep a record of all your phone calls emails pics Skype records etc. Travel visas, whatever.
All evidence of your relationship together and include a few letters from friends or family in both countries indicating that they are aware of your relationship.
ya we decided to wait for like 2 and half years at-least then we both done with our education and don't have to depend on others, So after marrying her in future is it easy to migrate to Canada right bro?

and how much it generally takes to get spousal visa??

Toutesweet, Margobear96 thank you for replies!
Chala, thank you... That s what I was thinking about -prolongation of visa.
Actually my visa is till November 2014, but by rules I can be only for 180 days per time. I have no idea how they will prolong it if it is till November anyway.

I've never had to do that as we had my address on the application all along but I think you can actually change it online. When you go into the Ecas to check the status of your application when you put in the identifier # of the PR applicant , not the sponsor it will show the address of the applicant. I think I saw a hyperlink above that that says "change address", I never clicked on it cause i didn't want to change her address but assuned it took you to a place where you could change the address immediately and on line. I don't think you need to send in a request by mail or email. :)

I'm sorry I forgot, India right? I believe it is currently a one year processing time for there. You can check the CIC website for processing times for your visa office and also which visa office you are required to apply to and time your application accordingly. These times are always subject to change, but I think India has been fairly consistent. Be aware I have heard on this forum, that the New Delhi office can hold your passport for several months for security check so you won't be able to travel out of country for that time.
Keep records and pictures of your time, visits, and communication together. If you have all of this, it should just be a matter of waiting out your processing time. No problem.
I'm a sis by the way ;-)
