Hi I'm a newbie here, anyone who filed their application feb 2013? Any feedback? Anyway here's our timeline

Feb 28 '13 application filed
Mar 27 '13 sponsor approved, documents forwarded to CEM

At present still no feedback and waiting for instruction from CEM. Thank you and may god bless us all..

The next step after the sponsor's approval is just to sit and wait. What happens next is the passport request if no further documents or enterview are required.

Yesterday I received a call from CHC ISL they told me I have to extend my medical by going to same office and pay around 400 rps and bring passport copy. But they wont be doing any xrays or blood check.

Does anyone have same situation here? My permanent residence application got approved on November 10th, 2010.

Since you were only living together 5 months, you were not common-law at the time you landed. Anything less than official common-law status is just "dating" to the CIC. So there would have been no need to inform CIC of this at the time, and no need to include your partner in the application.

In some cases CIC for some reason tries to claim people were common-law when they really weren't. So what you could do in your PR application now, is to show proof or make a very clear statement, that you were NOT living together for the previous 7 months (June 2010 - Dec 2010). Or just be prepared that CIC could ask more about this during your processing.

By the way, do you guys have any tips on how to make a common-law partner sponsorship stronger? I know that a spousal visa would pretty much be better but I actually want the wedding to be in Canada instead, after we've saved enough money. Thanks in advance!

We are using it. We have received one notification from it and though is was not accurate, it prompted us to check eCAS. The thing is that it recognizes that a line on eCAS changed but it sends you the last line only while the change may have been because of an inserted line in the middle. Whether it is secure or not, we are not sure but it seems some other people on here are using it.

Some visa office cannot process applications fast enough before the medicals expire. They can extend them but I have only heard of one person here getting an extension and their visa office was Vienna.
My wife's medical expired in december and she has just been notified to redo the whole thing. CIC should not be requesting time limted documents before applications reach the visa offices.
Get your medical redone and have your sponsor complain to his/her MP.

The policy is to request a new medical certificate if a medical expiration is the only thing preventing the VO agent from making a decision. For medicals that were performed 15 months ago or more they will request a full medical exam; otherwise they might request a portion of it.

Part of the medical exam may be just taking your blood presure, urine exam, etc, without the need of Xray or Blood tests. The type of examination is not decided by the VO agent, it is decided by an agent at the health section.

Only because it's Canada Post. That's the ONLY reason I say 6-12 weeks. It's VERY slow. Takes about 3 weeks to send something from here (Brockville, Ontario area) to Kingston (About 45 minute drive away). And that's in the same province.

Yep it is. When you land, the system just deletes all the information and deactivates it.

Anecdotal. If you send a letter with regular postage it can take up to 3 days if the address is within the city. Most delays on lettermail is caused by a wrong or incomplete/illegible addresses. Mistakes can happen but because you may have a had a letter get delayed doesn't mean that they all get delayed. Delays on international mail are caused by either the foreign carrier or they get held at customs in the majority of cases.
As much as a nightmare Canada Post can be it is still the fastest and cheapest in the world. If you got to see the operation from the inside you would be surprised at just how much stuff gets delivered quickly. I've never seen failure rates any greater than 3% and that is at Christmas. On average failure rates would hover around 1%.

can somebody pls help me with the right answer:
my boyfriend is sponsoring me and my son in family programm, as common law partner, inside of QC, we are living together more than 2 years. but same time my son, who is 20 years old, are studying in Germany (university) and he will be graduate his university in Germany just in 2-3 years..
So, my quastion is - what is the rules and how it works after CIC will accept our application - me I am already in Canada, but my son - what is the rules for him - can he finish his studies in Germany or there is time&limit when he should arrive in Canada and stay here with us...

I will appreciate a lot your opinion&answer..
