However, if your sponsor is a Canadian citizen and your child is his, your child is a Canadian citizen by virtue of having a canadian parent, in which case you will have to submit a request to have your child's citizenship recognized (for which you may be asked for a DNA test). If your child is deemed Canadian, then your child does not need to be sponsored.
