Hi guys! I have recently received my ITA under Express entry draw, however, last year we have applied under inland spousal sponsorship which is still in process. Now as I got my ITA I would like to use as I think this process is much faster. Now, if we withdraw our sponsorship application, will my OWP be deemed as well?

Hi all! I am so glad this forum exists!
I have a question generally speaking.

My partner is a Canadian citizen and I'm from Australia and we'd like to apply for my PR under this visa, however I'm worried that (as we are both women), applying under common-law will not guarantee an offer, and I'm looking at other visa options under which to apply. I know Canada is way more liberal with same-sex relationships than Australia, but even just in general I feel like they might prioritise those who are married over those in a common-law relationship. Are these insecurities supported by some truth, or are they completely unfounded? I'm worried that if it gets rejected that it will ruin my chances to apply in other ways. Any one who knows a lot about this visa or has been successful under the common-law path would be fantastic to hear from.

Many warm regards to you all!

It wont affect other applications and they plenty of same sex couples are granted PR... they scrutinize common law more than married couples either way, you could get married as much as a heterosexual couple in canada :)

They're trying to process applications in the orders they were received anyway so, if applied October 2016.. approximately 13.5 months it will be concluded in (based on how it's been going for most people) however its much less than the 26 months. Their aim is for 12 months.
Thanks so much for this! Fingers crossed for 12 months; that would be amazing!

Your worries are completely unfounded. Married apps are most definitely NOT prioritized over common-law. IRCC treats them equally, as common-law is a legally recognized status. Same-sex is also not treated differently.

Provided you can prove you have cohabited for at least one continuous year, an outland app should be approved without issue in around 6 months.

Hi everyone. I have been living in Canada for the last few years and have completed my MBA and then got into a job 5 months back that falls under NOC B in CIBC. I applied for SOWP for my wife who is currently living in Bangladesh. She just finished her undergrad with few part time job experience. I applied on the 2nd of April 2017 with no upfront medical. I used two letters, one from her and me, my paystub, employment verification letter, job offer letter, my MBA transcript and certificate and a bank letter showing a bit of a balance. For my spouse I added her IELTS score, our marriage certificate, passport and one wedding picture. I had few doubts so I did a CSE later on and added her PCC along with 12 wedding and regular pictures of ours.

It has been 7 weeks and processing time for work permit says 8 weeks in Bangladesh. I applied online and am waiting for any kind of news.

My question is did I do it right or I could have added anything else?

Thanks

You need to post in the Foreign Worker section of the forum. This section of the forum is for Canadian citizens/PRs sponsoring their family members.
