Hi, I'm Canadian PR and I'm sponsoring my common-law partner to apply for PR. We have submitted the application, and I just discovered that she made a mistake translating her city of birth on IMM0008. She is Chinese and the city of birth is Yancheng City (盐城市). However, since cheng (城) means also town or city, on IMM0008 she translated the city name as "Yan City", leaving out the middle character.
This is definitely wrong because on all her notary document of official documents (birth certificates, family registries, etc), the "Yancheng City" translation is used. What should we do? Should we withdraw the application or submit a letter of explanation using the webform?
Also, I think she might have been using Yan City in all her previous Canadian student visa applications. They were all wrong.
