Hello,

When i applied for spousal sponsorship for my wife the embassy waiting period on the website said 11 months for Vienna when they received the application, however since that time it has changed to 13 months. Will I be in the 11 month window or the current 13 month window. This is very misleading on the government website. Does anyone have any experience on how these embassy times work?

thank you.

The time quoted is a snapshot for 80% of applications to be completed.
a) It will always be historic information and subject to change.
b) An individual application can take a much shorter or a much longer time.

You are probably looking at an extended time frame at the moment, due to the recent industrial action. They will be working on any remaining backlog.

In my experience the times quotes on the website are largely bull*censored word*. I recently got a letter from my local CIC and it stated a completely different time. On the website it states 14 months and on the letter it stated 6 months from beginning to end (without counting Step 1). However, it has now been aprox. 8 months since we started the process.

My best advice to you is just wait, no one knows how long it's going to take. If you feel that it's taking too long I would recommend you speak to your local Member of Parliament. They can often speed things up for you :) Hope that helps!

It really depends on which VO abroad is processing your application. It seems to me that straight-forward/no red flag applications are still being processed out of Manila in 8 months from beginning to end (as was with us a year ago and beyond). Since then there's been the strike, posted timelines have changed, etc. etc. but we're still quite commonly seeing visas issued in 8 months. (I'm not referring to exceptions, and intend no offense to those waiting longer.)

OP stated his VO was Vienna
Which seems to be processing very slowly this year

You can check out the Vienna thread

Good luck :)

I recently submitted my spousal sponsorship yesterday. We are applying for the outland in Vienna, Austria. Is there a spreadsheet for all Dec 2013 applicants to Vienna?
