I requested by email to schedule the immediate available appointment at any location in Lahore or Islamabad. next day I got reply to appear at Lahore IOM

About two weeks ago, we had asked our local MP's office to do a case inquiry for us, just to know that things were moving along smoothly. I got a call from them today telling me that all background and security checks were complete and it was a "positive selection" (I'm guessing that means eligibility was passed). Our original documents have also been mailed back (not yet received), and now we are waiting for a response on medical extension. Unfortunately, no way to know about that until we actually get a re-med request........It's not all great news, but still gives us a bit of hope.

The fact that your documents have been mailed back is a very strong positive.
Did the mail to Canada or Pakistan address?

I really hope so, I'm not quite sure yet where they were sent (I forgot to ask), where are they usually sent??

My lawyer insists to not order notes at this point ,since our case is sent to Islamabad for INTERVIEW ....it will make them feel that we r panicking .....And they will further suspect the legitimacy of our marriage.
What your lawyer would say about it? Pls ask.....if you have any..

how do u know if your case is sent for interview and what reason did they give? and what is wrong in ordering notes?
but i guess your lawyer thinks if ur already in interview Queue then whats the point for ordering notes.

They did not give any reason, just send email back to us after receiving case specific inquiry , from us.

one of my friend applied for his wife in Dec-2014
and today he received all his original documents
on ecas its showing in-process but he is worried why they returned the original document so early without any documents.. can someone help him to know why cic did that?

Hi,

It is most likely a positive sign, They send back the documents when the case is completed.
In terms of the status being "in process", the status is not always updated.
I have noticed that people that sponsored a wife in dec 2014, their cases have been completed. Whereas the applicants that sponsored a husband in dec 2014, are all in process.

IF I were to guess, I would say your friends case has been completed, maybe even a decision has been made and they should shortly send a passport request.

Mercy, I was thinking that adding a few more details to the spreadsheet may help.

I did mention one factor before, it was that if people order notes or put in a case specific inquiry, it may delay the process atleast a little bit.

another point I thought of is, how many of these applicants went on a honeymoon? and was it within Pakistan or abroad?

I could be wrong, but my theory is that going for a honeymoon abroad such as maldieves may help convince the office that the relationship is genuine, because if it wasn't why would they spend $5000 and up on a honeymoon. that being said, it doesn't mean that people that don't spend so much on a honeymoon or go abroad for one are not a genuine case. Some people don't have the time or money or they may have other issues. But for those that do go abroad that may help make their case go faster?

what are your thoughts?

Really, do we need more things to worry about?

If we know that having a baby does not affect the case timings, how can honeymoon affect it? Surely a baby is worth more than $5000 spent on going abroad for honeymooning!

Also, if you notice in the 2015 spreadsheet, its mostly the wives sponsoring husbands cases that are now in process on ecas.
