Dear fellows,

i am new at this forum as well as a new permanent resident in Canada. i want to sponsor my husband. i need some info if some one can help me that will be so nice.


Is it necessary for sponsorship that sponsor have the residential lease on his/her own name? Given that for time being i am living with one of friend. Can i apply without residential lease at my name? For proof of residence can any other doc like income tax and benefits declaration form with my name and address be used?

i will be applying from Quebec so appearantly there isn't any requirement of sponsor's employment and finantial soundness. Is it true?

Plz share your experience in this regard

another query

A month ago the time span for spousal sponsorship for London visa office was 11 month on CIC website. i check a week ago, now the time it is showing is 29 months . Do this duration has to do something with real time spousal sponsorship take. what is the average time in real that London visa office take from the day file transfer over there to visa issuance?

You can use a combination of the below for residency proof:

Acceptable proof of residency documents (address)

A Delivery Notice Card completed by a Canada Post delivery employee indicating the name and address, is acceptable for picking up that item only

Government Cheque or Government Cheque Stub with elector name and address

Major credit card statement

Statement of Employment Insurance Benefits Paid (T4E)

Bank statement

Canada Pension Plan Statement of Contributions / Québec Pension Plan Statement of Participation

School, College or University Report Card or Transcript

Statement of Old Age Security (T4A) or Statement of Canada Pension Plan Benefits (T4AP)

Residential Lease, Residential Mortgage Statement or Agreement

Insurance Policy

Statement of Benefits from Provincial Workplace Safety or Insurance Board

Vehicle Ownership or Insurance document

Municipal tax notice

Statement of Direct Deposit for Provincial Works or Provincial Disability Support Program

Recent utility bill (residential telephone, cable TV, public utilities commission, hydro, gas or water)

Canada Child Tax Benefit statement

Attestation of Residence issued by the responsible authorities (shelters, soup kitchens, student/senior residence, long-term care facilities, Aboriginal reserves, work camps).

Income tax assessment - most recent.

I Got my passport back today from VAC office karachi. It was dispatched on 11th march. I received the call on 12pm to collect it.
It was greatly fast (12 days) compared to 45 days of TCS.
I hope everyone get to their loved ones soon.
I have spent my fair share apart from my wife.
6 years engaged and 1.5 year of marriage and we only spent couple of months together. Still Love is all worth it.
Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes.
I will at least spend a month helping others on this forum after i move to Canada inshaAllah
so keep me in your prayers.
I have seen new members who are ready to take senior member's place very soon.

Well, I am a Canadian citizen. Last year in June I went to Canada and was surprise to see a young lady passenger whose case was in process(husband in Canada applied her sponsorship visa) and she got a visitor visa parallel.. she was a daughter of Police DIG.. so may be her links were good.. otherwise I have applied for my wife for visitor visa and rejected. I have a son who also is a Canadian citizen.. now I am planning to apply her sponsorship in April. And I don't know how long will it takes?

Good for you, but what are the tricks to get the passport back at earliest??lol

They have updated it after i posted this lol... So same day but around 5pm they sent a message that it's transfered to chc isb.

My husband received his pp today !

My timeline is on the side for anyone interested.
Altogether, from the start of the process it took our file 14 and a half months to be completed. Good luck to all those still waiting. This will probably be my last post here

As per the current trend they are completing all applications in a span of 12 to 14 months..!! but they are LVO you can't guess anything what will happen after a year, but don't worry it may take less but will not take more than 14 15 months for sponsorship.

You usually get a automatic confirmation indicated the email has reached them.

Print that out just in case.
