Hello everyone,

Just wish to advise everyone of our progress. Received DM & PPR on April 27, 2018 (Friday). Submitted passport on Monday (April 30, 2018) and received confirmation of visa issuance and passport dispatched to Canadian Visa Application Centre in ISB on Thursday (May 03, 2018).

Our application was initially sent on January 17, 2017 to Mississauga. Application process started on February 09, 2017.
Took us 462 days in total from sending the app to getting a visa. That is 1 year, 3 months and 7 days excluding today's date.

Our case was Nikah only (took place in November, 2015 and then Rukhsati & Valima held in March 2017) so basically in total it took us 898 days OR 2 years, 5 months and 16 days to get a visa. Still counting the days to be together!

I'll be happy to provide all of our stats when my wifey lands. One-way tickets to Montreal are sure expensive these days!

Everyone waiting & reading this, please don't be discouraged in any way. This is just information. Your well being and your progress is in Allah's hands. Pray (Fajr is a must!) and real patience is not just waiting and checking the status everyday. It is, in my perspective, to overcome the tests you and your relationship might face during your waiting period and still keep a smile on your face and a happy heart!

Do they receive faster responses than if you were to contact them yourself ?

I would personally not hesitate in contacting your MP. You will most likely be referred to an administrative assistant of some sort. He or she will be able to request an updated and a tiny bit more detailed status update on your behalf.

In my case, I had sent 2 e-mails without any reply back. Contacted the MP - the admin. assistant was not so pleasant but she received a reply under 24 hours. Right after that - I received a response to my direct e-mail too.

If you've waited for more than 12 months - by all means give them a call. Their interference is usually quite neutral and they will only request an update of your progress - nothing more.
