I also did something sneaky; hit the 'Report Typo or Error' link a the bottom of the story and left a note for the editors that they needed to update this story. One year on, the wait times for spousal applications have actually regressed!

i know, it's not a mistake; all remedical requests for pakistani applicants come from NDVO. i was just curious about it because CIC rarely ever sends acknowledgements.

I think (and this is just my opinion) that the best form of communication proof is call durations and screen shots of how many calls you have made. I think a lot of people insist on personal messages, either BBM, Facebook etc, but I think that if you go this route you end up printing tons of pages (especially if your relationship is beyond 1-2 years). If you want to send messages its also a problem because many messages could be private in nature (flirty/sexual etc). And then you would have to delete those messages and it just takes so much time. And personally, I don't think that CIC reads 100 pages of chat history with a highlighter in hand. I think that they just want to see if you talk and how much you talk. What I did was, I took 2 types of screenshots of skype form my tablet. The first screenshots were just video call screenshots in which me and my wife could be seen (preferably smiling) and with the date showing (20 August 2016 etc). I took 1 screenshot everyday, but I only sent them 1 for each month. The second type of screenshot I took was call duration screenshots. For this, you don't have to be actively making a call when you are taking the picture. I just opened skype on my tablet and it showed the calls made and the length of calls for the past few days. We talk twice for 1 hour so I had calls like 52:45, 45:31 etc. I took screenshots of that and sent them with the app for each month (except the last month when I submitted my app). Basically, I sent them a random screenshot for each month showing that we have talked for 1 hour each day from wednesday to friday. Then for the next month, I showed we talked 1 hour from saturday to wednesday. By this, they get an idea that you talk daily and for hours. I don't prefer talking via chat because when you can see the other person and talk in a video call, then what's the need for text? Anyway, for the last month, I send them a screenshot of call durations for each day, so basically 30 screenshots to prove that we indeed do talk daily and not just on certain days. I think this is the best way to prove that you communicate while keeping your privacy.

I need your help to file application for my wife & new born daughter. Below is my scenario:
I landed in June 2014 and came back to UAE where I was working since 2009. In later 2014 I got engaged and Nikkah was done in January 2015. Reception/Rukhsti was held in April 2015 and my wife came to UAE on spouse visa and stayed with me till May 2016. During this stay we visited many countries together including Switzerland and Italy and blessed with a baby girl in July 2016 (In Pakistan). Now I ‘ll be moving to Canada next month and want to sponsor both my wife and daughter. Would you please let me know below:
• What documents should I require from UAE (Except PCC for my wife)?
• What are the documents which I should need from Pakistan? I went through the check list provided on CIC website but got confused specially relating to the original birth & educational certificates for sponsor.
• What is the procedure for up front medical for spouse and daughter and when can we do that?
• List of forms to be filled for Spouse and dependent child.
• Applicable fees and method of payment.
• How to get assessed by CRA for tax returns for last year (Which will be 2015 for me as I am out of Canada since landing)
