ok so i looked around some of the other threads and found that people start to see this immediately after their file gets transferred... so seeing "eligibility review in progress" does not mean they've started to work on your file. it's just a default status message. this thing is useless.

really??? then after how long we will be able to see the exact thing which we want to see..i thought at least through this i will be able to know whether someone is working on the file or not so useless if this is true.

it's still a bit better than ecas i guess.

yes we still can't tell whether they've started working on our file, but we can at least know when we've passed eligibility (provided that they actually update this info).

why don't they just stop lying to us and say "elgibility not started"? they think we're a bunch of idiots?

and i'm disappointed to see that even snowy is seeing the same thing. she is an october applicant who is still waiting for DM/PPR, so does this mean they haven't started working on her file or does it mean they actually are reviewing eligibility?

i guess they don't know the meaning of not started..According to the dictionary they use, Not started means they havent received the file..they can simply write not started for no one is working on the file and in progress for someone working on the file.they really think we are idiots just like them

Yeah! this is so frustrating. It is better than ecas but still like straight up tell us if you have started working on it or not.

How to link your application to your MyCIC account

Since a lot of people will now ask this,

Step 1: Go to the following link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/my_application/link.asp

Step 2: Go down to and click on Continue to GCKey

Step 3: Login if you already have an account, if not sign up to the right

Step 4: Once you're logged in, go down to where it says link an existing application

Step 5: For the information, you're going to enter the PA's info (your sponsored spouse)

-Choose file number and family name, enter your file number and the family name of your sponsored spouse
-Then enter your sponsored spouse's place of birth, country, etc. Leave the passport info and the rest blank

Note: For members, you write 2 (your spouse and yourself), if you have no other dependants.

Then search for the application at the bottom and it should find your application. Once found, link your application and that should take you to the main page, where you can view submitted applications - check status and messages.

anyone know what happens if we get a request for additional documents after having linked our app? will they stop sending emails now and force us to check this sh*tty MyCIC thing every day?

Unfortunately yes. check this out.

But i think we dont have to check it regularly. when we sign in it says
Complete the following information so we can send you an email if there is an update to your application or message in your account.
Email address (required)

I would like to receive monthly updates about my application

SO i think if we recieve a message from cic they will notify us on the id which we have provided in mycic
