Hi, I am a Canadian citizen and currently living in USA with my husband.I would like to apply permanent residence for my husband who is an Indian citizen and currently works in USA on H1 work Visa,I have a question regarding the residency obligations to maintain permanent residency status in Canada. If I apply permanent residence for my husband, is the physical requirement of 730 days to renew PR considered ,if he lived with me in USA ? In other words, is it okay if he doesn't live in Canada during that time period of his PR card, and still show those 730 days of physical requirement in Canada, if he lived with me in USA since am a Canadian citizen? I came across an article which mentioned that it is okay to live outside of Canada with spouse who is a Canadian citizen and still show those days as physically present for maintaining status.

Yes, that is true. Days that your husband (as a PR) is with you (as a Canadian citizen) out of Canada will count toward the PR residency requirement. However, if you aren't planning to move to Canada, you will have trouble sponsoring him as a PR. They will want proof that you are planning to move back to Canada once he is approved for PR.
