Hi
I am looking to file for spousal sponsorship for my husband. I hold a Canadian pr and both of us are indian citizens.
It's our first marraige and the case is a simple straight forward case.
ANY idea/estimate about lawyer fees?
I m located in toronto.
Thanks

you dont need one if your case is straight forward and neither of you have had issues with CIC before

If you have a simple, straightforward application, with proof of genuine relationship, first marriage, similar age and background - the cost should be $0 as you don't need a lawyer. If you choose to engage one for no reason, they'll charge whatever you're prepared to pay them.

I thought of the same but still was wondering how much would it cost if I hire a lawyer atleast to review my file once...
At least $3000-$5000 for a lawyer just to review your file.

I'm using a lawyer to file for sponsorship. My fees (so far) from the lawyer are:
Requesting and reviewing information for application for sponsorship and permanent residence - $1,500.00
Preparing and filing spousal sponsorship application - $2,000.00
Receiver General $1,040.00
Courier - $40.50
GST - $175.00
PST - $245.00

Orange LLP offer free consultations. I didn't end up hiring them, but I spent about an hour on the phone with them when I was lawyer-shopping and the woman I spoke to was very clear about what we needed to do.
