Hello
I saw recently everyone is talking about contacting MP. I want to clarify one thing. It’s never a good idea contacting MP. Everyone thinks MP can speed up process. This is absolutely wrong. MP in Canada is not same as in Bangladesh or any other country. Only thing MP will do is ask them about the update of your case which you can do by emailing them. I know this because I know my local MP very well. I speak to him frequently. The girl who handles all the issue at the MP office also knows me very well. She is Bengali. Even she told me that it’s not a good idea. People think if you contact MP something will happen. Actually it backfires. Ask yourself how you would feel if you are handling someone’s case and then your client involve someone higher than you. You would feel like the client is questioning your ability of doing your job. I know in third world country you will get your job done right way. In western country it’s opposite. It will back fire you and you might get a tougher interview or something else. My MP offered me to write a letter to them. After hearing this I didn’t bother. Even his Bengali secretary told me that regardless what we do, the immigration people do their job the way they want. Remember your local MP is provincial and his job is to take care of family law, labor, education, social services etc. Canadian Immigration falls under Federal Government. They can’t interfere in federal side. They can only ask for the progress of the file or case. I find when you email them is more valuable. It shows to immigration that you are interested in your case and you as a sponsor is continuously asking for updates and proofs somewhat your marriage is legit. Because a person whose marriage is fake will never knock them. Thanks
.

Dear Zee,

Actually you are wrong about this. You are mistaking MP (Member of Parliament) with MPP (Member of Provincial Parliament). MPPs will be no use for immigration and MPs job description does indicates that he/she has to serve the residents of their respective ridings.

It's a different story about their effectiveness cause some people had positive experience after enquiring through their MPs office.

Hope it helps.....

Hey Sam
I was actually talking about MP not MPP. This information came straight from a MP who i know very well. I am not disclosing his name. As I said i was offered by him to write a letter to immigration but i decided not to do so. Off course i know MPP cant do anything :)

Dear Zee,

Strange! Your earlier post suggest mp's can not interfere federal affairs hence I replied.

Anyways I agree to disagree regarding inquiry from your MP. If you don't have a lawyer and the Visa office is not responding you, your mp's office should be your next stop.

And Canadian Immigration Policy is not that biased towards people who are enquiring about their application. The only thing Immigration Canada looks in any application is the genuineness of your relationship based on what information you provided. If they have any doubt/missing link/red flags from your application, most likely they will ask for an interview to clarify. I don't think they will give you hard time just because you are enquiring yourself or via your mp.

Hope it helps...

Dear Hasan,

Did you submit both of your police clearance yet?

It depends why you are contacting your mp. If it is to get an update or communication flowing no problem. If you think your mp can influence the decision you are wrong.

Dear Sam,

Not yet. The interviewer took police clearance from Bangladesh police but I just sent my authorisation for obtaining clearance from Toronto police service which will take 10-15 days.

Thank you.

Hasan

Dear Hasan,

Good. Try to send it ASAP cause you don't want unnecessary delays. Weather is getting really warm here so come fast and enjoy the summer.

I don't think nobody goes to mp for speed up and/or influencing the decision (it will be ridiculous!). They just want update from their respective visa office. I was under the impression that you don't want people to go to their mp at all (according to your original post). Maybe you should redress your post.

Hope it helps.....

Dear Sam and Zee7447,

I read both of your post. The simple thing is that MP office help sponsor the condition of his or her application. I read many people go and get help from them. For example if any sponsor do not know what is the condition of his or her application. The MP office helps them. They never speed the application condition they only update your application condition.

Regards

Farhana
