Hi there,

Be prepare well for your upcoming interview.

They called you for interview because they have questions and concerns on your file. It could be lack of relationship proofs, any red flags such as quick marriage, big age gap, difference of religion, cultural or educational difference etc.

So you have to prepare fully in terms of all those points.

If you need an interpreter please arrange as per instruction of your visa office. Please check your respective visa office thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-acrra-ghana-applicants-t64640.0.html)as to how you can arrange an interpreter.

I suggest that you read specially this thread as much as possible to prepare well. You can also tell us about your application as to why they schedule an interview for you? Did you collect your GCMS notes?

Hello I_Am_Baruch,

You got your interview date but you hide the date. In your interview the visa office required your—

Marriage certificate which must be original and translated in English because visa office only accepts English or French.

Photo of your marriage ceremony ---you can bring your marriage, ceremony, honeymoon picture and also both you and your sponsor family together picture. You can also bring your sponsor Canadian photo but the photo must take in different place not at home.
You must bring small photo album for you picture.

Proof of your communication----you can bring skype screen shot, viber call list, email or if you use another app for your communication you can bring all your communication proof at least past 24 months if you have or less but try to carry past 12-month proof.

You must bring your birth certificate, previous passport ,all your school, university certificate with mark sheet which must be translated in English and original.

If you have dependent means if you have any family member like your son or daughter who passes 18 years you should accompany with them with your interview.

If you want to do your interview in your own native language it is your responsibility to arrange an interpreter. The visa office will not provide any interpreter for you.

I don’t know why visa office put you in the interview. You know better what is your application weak point. The immigration officer will ask you question from your application story and you should careful about your application story and correctly tell the immigration officer the date and incidents of your application.

The immigration officer will ask about your sponsor Canadian life, job and education. your sponsor parents related question may be the officer ask you in the interview day.

Do not try to give extra answer, what immigration officer ask you must try to answer only that question answer. Try to request to see your documents and never ever change your question answer may be some question the officer try to confused you but don’t make yourself confused because you know your story better than immigration officer.

In the interview day wear a formal dress and carry your documents in a file.

Regards
Farhana

Hi,

They have certainly some doubts about the relationship. So as they asked please provide additional relationship proofs.

Red flags means insufficient relationship proofs, big age difference, difference of religion, educational or cultural difference, insufficient proofs of cohabition as common law partner....there are plenty of reasons. Every application is unique. Sometimes decision depends on the judgement of the processing officials. So take it very seriously and look in to every details to properly address the requirements.

However, when they specifically asked for passports, chances are they will issue visa on submission of requested documents and papers.

Good luck!

Good luck!
Hasan
thnak you hasan. I printed out more pictures and hotel confirmation emails as well as detailed phone bills, sponsor and applicant have the same-address-proofs. joiny bank accounts.

Hello everyone.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has contributed to this topic!!! The information was invaluable in our preparation for the interview. We are paying forward by sharing our experience.

1. We arrived at 12:30PM but were asked to come back at 12:55PM as the consulate staff would not be back in the office until then. We were first in line and there were about five other interviewees.

2. Two interviewees went ahead of us and their interviews lasted about 30-40 minutes. Could not tell from their facial expression whether they were successful when they exited. The interviewers were a male and female, Caucasians.

3. My wife was called to a window to pass all our supporting documents. About 10 minutes later, she was led to the interview room and they asked her the following questions:
- Wife's birthday?
- Who is sponsoring wife?
- Is you sponsor living in Vietnam?
- Is your sponsor also attending this interview? ?
- Do you have family in Canada?
- What does your husband do for work?
- Does your husband work online for a Canadian company or working for a company in Vietnam?
- When did your husband start working in Vietnam?
- Is this your husband’s first marriage?
- When did he get divorced?
- Explain the history of your relationship?
- Where did you first meet?
- When did you want to first get engaged and get married?
- Describe your engagement and wedding?
- Who from your husband family and friends attended the wedding?

In total, the interview lasted about 20 minutes.

4. My wife then opened the door and told me to join her in the interview room. The officer said she had good news (I noticed the interpreter smile right after). However, she had one question about the expiry date of my wife's medical. She asked if we will go to Canada before the expiry date or would we prefer a re-medical. I said "hell no!!!"... joking!!! I said we will depart before the expiry date. She said we can always land and immediately return. They returned all our evidence including the updated forms and new police certificate.

I thanked them and that was it. No next steps provided but I am guessing their response is a good as you can hope for.

Many thanks again and I hope this information helps others. One last thing. We prepared lots and, although they did not ask the many questions we expected, the preparation helped my wife be "calm and confident". <-- I think that is the secret sauce!!
