it's hard to tell. i'm an apr 28 applicant and there's no sign of my case being finalized on time (haven't gotten SA or AIP yet). there's a lot of factors involved with the biggest one being security check by CSIS. additional docs requests slow applications down as well.

My question relates to OWP applications.
I sent my OWP application after my PR application due to confusion as I was already on an OWP under the IEC program and you cannot extend those permits. Long story short I sent my application to extend my stay etc (OWP application) directly to Alberta as per the instructions.
I received notice from my courier company that the application was delivered etc. This was a month ago and I have not heard anything... no email, no letter, nothing... Is this common? I ask as my current OWP expires at the end of May and as I understand I will be under 'Implied Status' until that permit is approved and mailed to me. With no application number or anything how do I prove my Implied Status? How does that work with my SIN, which expires at the end of May on the same day as my current OWP.

You wouldn't get an AOR for OWP. What you should do is to try to link your application by using the other options like your UCI. You can prove your Implied Status by showing your receipt.
you won’t get any email/AOR for the OWP application. what you can do is try to link it online in your mycic. use your last name and passport details to search for it. you will only receive an email once it’s approved.

I was able to link my OWP to mycic account on the 26th Jan 2018.
I'm starting to wonder whether they've lost mine or something, because I've see ppl from after the 11th Dec have their OWP have their permits approved.

did my meds in the beginning of february. i'm prepared for processing to take a couple of extra months. ircc are currently working on both november 2016 and march 2017 apps. they're pretty swamped.
Did you have valid temporary resident status while you sent the application? And are you with IEC visa staying in Canada?
Ok. I guess they are. I will do what I need to do and continue the wait. I am July so i still have 4 months to go

IEC could not give you implied status. Even you sent the app while the IEC still valid not expired. You should apply to extend to stay in Canada and change to be a visitor. Otherwise, you will not get your OWP approval until you get AIP.
Yes, I had a valid status when I applied with my PR application. My current work permits doesn't expire until 7th may 2018.
I really can't wait for them to take much longer - as i am pregnant and can't afford to not be able to renew my health card.
I know I'll have implied status but I'm not sure whether I will be able carry on working under this status because I came to Canada under the IEC program. I'm not sure you can carry on working under implied status if you came here on IEC.

You could not keep on working while your IEC expired. IEC is not extendable.
