If there is no DM in ECAS yet, then probably Security. If there is a DM, then I totally agree.

@profiler i need your expertise. since cic is done with your background check. then if the other govt agency do their background check with you for employment, is it different process? or they just have to check your record with cic. since background check with cic is valid for a year.

Thanks

It's different. Which agency needs a BG?

Transport Canada. I'm working in the airport so basically you need a pass or they call it RAIC "restricted area identification card".
same thing background check about your activity in the last 5 years. But the difference with TC is that you just submit your application form, DL, Immigration Status and current employment. They don't require a PCC upfront, not until few months after they requested it. All airport pass application on all airport in Canada are submitted to them in TC Ottawa. I'm on a temporary pass for more than 6 months now, It's hard because i need an escort inside the airport. Backlog for sure but for background check is too much already. I want to submit my PCC to help them for the process and i was advice that don't, just wait when they request it.

The DM in ecas is only on the sponsor side, last update for PA is medicals received, how long can security take?

Couple says to 6 months. Depends when they started them, and how extensive your history is.

It's probably different. I have a Controlled Goods (Strategic Goods) Clearance from Public Safety Canada. Usually they just do them in house, but if it has to go to l'Ottawa, it only takes a couple days... I don't think the CIC BG check is the same at all....

your such an expert!!! sorry I ask soo much!
his history is only school in Libya and a couple construction jobs (the country is what I'm scared of will hold up the process)
and he has been in Canada since 2014.
He previously had a work permit so he was working when we sent the APP and included a letter from his boss.

Flattery will get you everywhere... though I really am not.

They probably started the check from Libya. I know one of my doctors was born in Libya, and trained in UK. He never said anything about there being a problem with being from Libya, but Canada is ultra-stringent on MD's...

I would guess that it probably won't take the 6 months. I suspect it's less than 2 or 3.
