That`s good to know. Thank you. And, yes I do live in Montreal. It would take me max 20 mins to get there. :)

So basically Mrs. C and Baby C can just shove you out of the car and come back in 15 minutes. :D

@browning911 @sylvain1 NBC just broke that there was another person in the room during Jr's meeting... A lobbyist who is a "former Soviet counter-intelligence officer". :O!

I'll answer the new stuff once I get to work....

And yet the ComradeCheetolino said he knew nothing about the meeting.

I did not get to watch Rachel and Lawrence. It was my Dad's birthday so I went to celebrate with my parents. He really irritated and he wanted the person who looks after him to leave. I fed him dinner and then gave him dessert (his favourite meal) and then he fell asleep.

indeed... nobody should have to go through that disease. There are no "nice" diseases, but this is one of the very bad ones, both for the patient and the family. Realizing you are losing your mental abilities is very tough and very frustrating.
Happy birthday to your dad anyways; for my dad, it's today but we will celebrate only tomorrow.

Really? Why after AIP? Why do I need OWP when I receive AIP!!

AIP just says you are eligible to apply for Permanent Residence. It does not say you can work -- only a Work Permit says that. Which is why you have to apply for OWP (see my signature). As @sylvain1 states below, you are now eligible for OHIP and / or RAMQ. In BC, and AB (not sure about others either), you could have had health coverage through your spouse's employer's plan.

Also as @sylvain1 states below, you require a Social Insurance Number (SIN) to be able to work. This is how your employer sends your taxes into the government. It's mandatory.

After AIP, you are not yet a PR, so you still need a work permit to be allowed to work. But with AIP, you likely can register to your provincial health insurance plan (I know for sure RAMQ and OHIP, not sure for other provinces). But from AIP to decision made, it can be very fast (1 day in our case). From the spreadsheet, it's about 30% of people that get DM within 2 weeks after AIP. For others, the average is about 60 days.
Then from DM to landing, the range is 1-8 weeks. That's why I'm saying you will likely land before getting your OWP. Only after you land you can get a permanent SIN and not be required to have a work permit to work.

Unless, because your status is restored, they start processing your OWP now... I'm not longer sure... @profiler what do you think?

The OWP application form allows you to also apply to restore status on the form. So I would expect they did them both.

I also concur that the OWP is probably a waste of time and possibly money (once issued, you cannot get that money refunded). DM could potentially arrive before OWP.

Well at least when you got shopping you can pick up both Xmas and Birthday all at once. :)

So you have to have something for her to open on Christmas.... but what I like to do, is gift cards.... le cheese I know, BUT the benefit is, she can go (I take her) shopping and get EXACTLY what she wants, and it fits. Also out here, we have many, many, many factory outlets. So, in some cases, $100 can buy $400 or $500 worth of stuff! :)

My dad has surmised that it's Pootie that is leaking. He is doing it because Trump is not moving fast enough to drop specific sanctions that Pootie wants gone (like the Magnitszki Act). Wrong or Right, there is evidence to support that theory (they had spy ships off the coast of Maryland, every day that these leaks show up, there is a news article about the Russians losing patience WRT getting their spy compound back, etc).

Rachel was good. She missed you. She spent the first 20 minutes talking about Trump's terrible lawyers. the missus laughed her ass off (hates news but) she went on to ask for Season 2 of the show!

It's tough when people enter dementia. I concur with @sylvain1 -- no one should have to go through that. That said, it's great that you got to see him!

My dad had a stroke. If your field of science is in the brain (you said Biology), my dad's stroke was a Wallenberg Syndrome (apparently extremely rare) caused by a blood clot in the brainstem. Turns out, they told him he would never have a recurrence, as the brain's bloodflow re-routed itself around it. He is still 'normal' (as in he still drives a car, he still does all the things he did before, etc).

His take was, if you had to die some way, that's be the way. You have a bit of a headache and you are dazed...

But @masouleht doesn't have AIP yet, he expects to get it soon.
To summarize, I want back in his post history (and masoulet, correct me if I'm wrong)
App received August 2016 (OWP submitted at the same time)
OWP returned in October 2016, insufficient funds
Reapplied in February 2017 for the OWP
IRCC required restoration of status, masoulet applied in March
visitor extension received in June (probably restoration of status)
IRCC required the marriage certificate, which was sent about 2 weeks ago.

So IMHO, IRCC might have started working on the OWP with the status restoration approved in June.
SA/AIP and possibly DM will likely come by the end August.

So the landing still might happen before the OWP.

Thanks.... I thought it was something like that, but the timeline seemed a little fuzzy.

It's possible the marriage certificate was for relationship proofs though (I think they mentioned it was requested by CPC-M) -- if that's the case, they may have started the OWP in March. But yes, it's also possible that they could have started in June as well.

Either way you slice this one, neither of us know what paperwork was sent, so we can really only guess (and it's going to be a wild guess too with only little evidence). That said, I concur that it's possible that the OWP isn't coming (or is at the end of August when the OP potentially lands).

Actually I love gift card because I can get what I want. Love those outlets.
