Hello Guys,

Newbie here. Any help is appreciated.

Applied for Spousal PR, OWP etc on the 25th of Feb. They're promising to complete everything in 12months for apps made after 7th Dec 2016.

How long are the OWP generally valid for ?

Is there a fixed time limit ?

Thanks

Coolgal

Generally valid for two years but if your passport expires in less than 2 years, expiry of OWP will be the same as the expiry of your passport, just like mine, I got my OWP Dec20th, it says it will expire in April 2018 because of my passport. Hopefully I'll get my PR by the end of this year, otherwise I have to renew the OWP.

2 years, or the life of the passport - 1 month.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to announce that I have received my OWP! :D
Now, this was strange, I did not get any notice via email, my account didn't say pass or decision made nor it had changed to my new address. I went in for the first time this week to get mail at the new address and there it was! It had been in there for several days while I was fixing up a Canada Post key issue. So for those who are waiting, keep an eye on the mailbox and not your account or email.

Hopefully, PR is next!

Congrats Azzil!!

Hi people
i just called in CIC to update the address. they told me my address is correctly updated . But when i check the ECAS . It shows the old/wrong address ..Anybody faced similar issue ?

Use the webform and do again. Just to be sure. Indicate that has not been in ECAS.

Hi there,

Me and my husband are in a bind. We got married back in Aug 2016 and applied for his work visa extension (OWP), sponsorship and PR application all at the same time – as per the IRCC’s advise. When they had emailed us the necessary forms I didn’t notice any for work permit extension forms and didn’t notice at the time when we were applying. When I called back in November they said it takes 4 months which meant January 2017. My husband and I have been trying to get a hold of them since then to no avail. The lines are always busy and we just can’t seem to get a hold of anyone to get answers. At this point, I was concerned and after doing my own research I realized that we may have missed a form – the IMM5710.

Here are my concerns:

* Did we need to submit the IMM5710 at the time we submitted for PR? Are there any other forms we should have included from a work permit extension perspective?

* If my husband didn’t technically apply for his work permit extension, is he currently working illegally? Since his original work permit expired in Aug 2016 (He was only here for a one year work permit, before we got married). He’s still at Starbucks (which is his previous employer) he continued to work there because we assumed he was under ‘implied status’, under the condition that he had an extended work permit application being considered

* We had paid for the open work permit/work permit extension back in Aug 2016 and have the receipt, does this help us prove no ill-intent or help us in any way? Will this affect/delay his PR application? This application we did properly and is linked to my CIC account now, so were good on that and just waiting

* Can we apply for the work permit it now? It say on the website that the OWP pilot is done Dec 2016, if it's still available will he have to wait another for months from when we apply now? His work permit would technically be expired. It’s already been 7 months of waiting at this point and he’d love to be able to apply for a different job, or leave the country a bit to visit his family back in Spain who he hasn’t seen for almost 2 years – what are our options?

Any help/insight would be amazing. Thank you so much! This forum is such an amazing community and support on this complicated process – we appreciate it big time.

Not quite sure what work permit he was coming from. Here is the OWP package: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

IMM5710 is a mandatory form. If that is not supplied, then no request for a work permit was tabled to CIC. They would therefore not be working on one. If they are not working on one, then he does not have implied status, and therefore would be working illegally (if they didn't get a IMM5710).

Can you apply? Sure. But if he is more than 90 days out of status, he won't be able to restore his status until AIP. That can take months to get to.

Wish I had better news for you. But from what you supplied, that is the best I can do.

Hey congrats! They are inching closer..... (btw, March 20th is a good day to land -- just saying).

Hey Profiler! that might not be landing, but March 20th is a very good day anyway! I got SA this morning, my wife got AIP minutes later!

Well, Mattars got an SA -- I want one too! When I mentioned that, and what sylvan reported this morning to a friend of mine, they reminded me of my January projections. Apparently I might be closer than I thought? It's become a bet between myself and the missus -- I am not permitted to disclose what is on the line in said bet.
