RV, if you read the remarks section it indicates " the temporary resident status maintained as per R183(6). Pending FC APR."

My understanding is that the open work permit is granted because of the pending application for family class sponsorship. Consequently if there is no pending application for family class sponsorship then this voids the open work permit.

Maybe Profiler or Simpsol can chime in because I am not 100% sure.

Yes I was also thinking the same thing ,but Profiler made it clear.Anyway thanks!! :-)

The note is more for justifying the OWP. As with any other permit, the expiry is when the permit is no longer valid.

You have been missed my friend. Welcome back. :D Thanks for all your advice.

Just wonder do I (applicant) need to inform Cic if I have a new job? Or my sponsor? We moved to other province after I got OWP so we both can work.

No. It is an open work permit so not necessary.

Hello everyone,

I have few questions about spousal sponsorship, could not really find any relevant information in the forum and hence asking it here. Please help me out if any of you have experienced this or if you have heard about any such case and that has got a positive outcome..So here it goes:

I am a PR in Canada for about 9 months now and I want to sponsor my spouse who is going to have his open work permit expire in June 2017. We got married in Canada 2 months ago only to save him from going back to our home country after his OWP expires. None of our family knows about the marriage however his side of the family is aware of our relationship. The reason for not informing our parents is that it would have been a problem getting married so soon and I fear for my parent's approval...We wanna take some time and have stronger reasons to convince my family. His family needs my family to be convinced for us to be married.

So the question: We married with only 4 -5 friends presence and our family does not know about it. Will this raise a red flag or can a letter of explanation be fine with CIC. The marriage is genuine and so is our relationship. We can show pictures for our marriage and courtship (4 years long distance though). We have chats, pictures, letters from friends justifying our relationship...What could be done to strengthen our case?

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-who.asp.... check this out first

i got an email from CIC for inclusion of wife in my PR application and to submit forms as follows:

1)Updated Generic Application form for Canada IMM 0008 for yourself and your spouse or CLP
2)Updated Additional Family Information form IMM 5406 for yourself and your spouse or CLP

Does it mean i have to fill IMM008 and my spouse needs to fill IMM008 separately in two different IMM0008 forms (or) only i should submit updated IMM 0008 including my spouse as my dependent in a single IMM 0008 form. No need to submit form filled by my spouse.

same for IMM 5406?

Thanks...

hi, looking at your previous posts, it looks like you are a current PNP applicant and your wife is accompanying you? if this is correct, please refrain from posting your questions in this thread. this thread is specific to canadian citizens/pr's who are sponsoring their spouse through inland spousal sponsorship, so most people will not be able to accurately answer your question. posting your question 3 times in irrelevant threads is not going to help you get answers.

if you are already a PR and are sponsoring your spouse through inland sponsorship, then more than likely the requested information is for HER to fill out, not you. if this is the case, then she needs to fill out those applicant forms, which should have been filled out in her original application. you as the sponsor (if you are one) do not fill out applicant forms.

these forms are generic for all immigration streams. this is why it's important to post questions in the board that is relevant to your immigration stream.

NO! Absolutely incorrect!!! :o
They will not have to restart anything just because they simply did not hear from CIC by now. If they don't have anything relevant to send to you, they won't contact you...simple as that....when they're ready they will!

Please be sure of the information you disseminate in this forum; incorrect information will cause unnecessary worry for applicants/sponsors.

I am trully sorry if I said something wrong. When I was going to do an up front medical exam they told me that if expires before "they go thru it" I would have to do it all over again (the medical part). So it was up to me to do it upfront or whenever they request. =/

Again, good luck to everyone.

Hello everyone, would someone here be able to answer my question? I'd appreciate it.

Here's the short version of my issue: I sent in my application for a work permit along with the application for spousal sponsorship and sponsorship evaluation. I got my work permit application back because there was an error in that specific document. I promptly corrected that error and sent the application back to the same address that I had before. That was back in October, and I can't even check the status of my work permit application on the CIC site. Should I be concerned?
