Mine was received last May 16, 2016.

How long does it take for the background check? how do they do it.

It will remain in process until the end of your wait. They take a while to confirm. Mine been in process since January 2016 according to my gcms notes and my mycic still shows in process. Most I've talked to say it stays that way until they get decision made

I called CIC today. the automated message said that they are processing applications received before December 7, 2016 . They have moved away from the regular updates and now they simply saying that everything is being processed.
this is completely useless... CIC seemingly doing one step forward two steps backward.

The year has been off for the last two updates. Happened before when they were processing march 2015 too....said march 2016. Will take them a while to fix. Replace that date with 2015.

they have jumped from August 2016 (i guess 2015) to December 7, 2016 (2015) in processing!! in a week. it means that everybody from Sept to Nov 2015 is done now! in a few weeks they should be starting the 2016 applications

they have jumped from August 2016 (i guess 2015) to December 7, 2016 (2015) in processing!! in a week. it means that everybody from Sept to Nov 2015 is done now! in a few weeks they should be starting the 2016 applications

Yep. Earlier last year they processed a bunch of sept-nov 2015....still some waiting yet....but over 50 % done on our spreadsheet. They just started giving dec 2015 first stage approvals.

It is 100% true. More and more December 2015 are hearing--even today a December 10th got news. Are you on the spreadsheet?

yes december 21 applicant although cic says that they only started on my application in Feb 3, which is when i got my file number too...

The date they started on your app is the day they scanned it in....not actually started on anything---other than maybe getting the background check started.
Are you on the spreadsheet under a different name?

i think my name on the spreadsheet is JAY, im the only one on that date ( dec 21, 2015 ). what is your timeline?
