He hasn't started that just yet but he has the book -he'll take two lessons as I did to familiarize himself with what they'll look for during the road test- he's busy with our 8 year old son and school as well but being a Mr Mom isn't his thing although he cleans way better than me! Lol

Does your husband have his owp? If so did he get it in 4 months or did u have to chase it?

He got his OWP in three and a half months. We submitted in July 20th, and his OWP was approved OCT28 and we had it in our hands one week after that.

Tip about the driving thing, if you are in Ontario then he could possibly move right to a G after receiving his G1.

Check the MTO website for details, but if he gets a letter from Jamaicas drivers licence office validating that he has been a licensed driver for a few years there then he can submit that document to Drivetest here BEFORE doing his g1 written exam and they will allow him to do his G right after his G1. No waiting one year and no G2 first....if he does however fail the road test for the G then he will be allowed to do a G2 the next time around (again no waiting one year to qualify for it)

You might be aware of this already but doesn't hurt to mention just incase.

What city are you guys from?

I did all my driving lessons and g1 and went directly to g instead of g2. All i brought was a letter stating that i was a driver in my country for a number of years and you re good to go. Then i was nailed by the insurance company since i m a new driver in Canada but had to start somehow...next renewal my insurance will be a little bit cheaper if there s no accidents.

3 months and 3 weeks for owp are not bad. Hope they keep processing within the 4 months timeframe....

It's been now 8 months and I haven't heard anything about our application. Only got OWP. Mycic shows only that background check is in progress, and others are not started yet. I have ordered notes but it takes at least a week to get them still. Anyone else in same situation? Or how long it takes to get next step after OWP?

takes time

I see that.. I just didn't prepared to wait this long and heard absolutely nothing. Even medical request. It's frustrating to see some people are way head even mailed application at same time or even later.
We moved to other province few month ago and did update address and forwarded mail to here, but I'm little worried if some important mail haven't reach us.

1. You should have prepared yourself for the wait to be 26 months as stated on the website when you applied.
2. If you applied 8 months ago, very very few have any news that applied after you.
3. There are applicants who applied in 2013, 2014 and 2015 still waiting. You just have to be patient. After almost 14 months, we just got Sponsor Approval and there was 7.5 month gap of complete silence since our Second AOR--which that Second AOR took 6.5 months to get. Your processing timeline is almost guaranteed to be quicker than mine and thousands of others before you.
4. The OWP is not connected in any way with the processing of your PR app. They just started processing December 2015 apps...so again, you'll probably be hearing somewhat soon, but need just be patient.

It has been 10 months for us and at exactly the same spot you describe, nothing started, just background check in progress

notes were a waste of time

Hi,

Question 3 in "Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008)" - Write the total number of family members included in your application. What is the correct answer?

Is it me and my family (like mom, dad, sister and brother + half sisters?) even if they are not applying for a visa and won´t move to Canada?

#confused
