According to the 2016 spreadsheet the answer is no.

Lately with many 2015 applicants, we've been seeing the jump from AOR to Landing and many the jump from SA to Landing. No idea what CIC is doing. There are still a handful of 2013 applicants I know of (not all on the spreadsheet) still waiting as well as many from 2014. Nice to see 2016 landing--but confusing.

interesting. if inland continues to process this quickly for 2016, then it doesn't seem logical to have the OWP program in place for new applications any more. it seems like a waste of time and money to process an OWP in 4 months when the person actually lands in 5-6 months. so it will be interesting to see how the entire process continues to unfold, and whether the pilot program will continue. it's always a guessing game with CIC!

I agree. Don't know, if I would be getting the SA/AIP/DM status updated in weeks after getting my OWP. :)

Irrespective, there would more reasons to celebrate the PR and look forward to the great future in Canada.

Hi all,

My boyfriend/fiance is Canadian and we will be married by the end of the year, so we hope to have our documents submitted by either December 2016 or Jan 2017.

My Indian passport is expiring in Feb 2018.

Will I need to get it re-issued before I can submit it to CIC, or will it pose a threat to my paperwork at all? I keep finding new things and new issues coming up everyday with some paperwork or another.

Is there any other suggestions to help make this process easier, anything helps :)

Thanks

You may not require your passport until you are called for the landing interview. The status of the passport needs to be valid as long as you are in Canada.

Also, it is a generally a norm to have atleast 6 months of validity on a passort when applying for visas or any other applications. Hence, you might want to time you application accordingly (ofcourse, after you get married).

Also, you can apply for the passport renewal after Feb'2017, and once your new passport is available you can always notify CIC about it.

However, going by the recent trends and if it continues at the same pace, you might get your PR long before your passport expires.

All the best!

the pilot OWP was just a stop gap measure to deal with the under-resourced spousal processing. Silly one mind you because they have to handle two applications instead of one (PR + OWP).
Straightforward spousal applications should be completed in no more than 2-3 months including PR cards etc. Inland applications should even be faster than this as many of the inland applicants have already been screened in some kind of working/visiting visa applications (or they are from lower risk visa waiver countries).
Anything longer than these are artificial barriers set by the gov. to narrow certain immigration channels.

Petalpop - It looks like you have not received sponsor approval yet? Or did you just miss it in your post above.

Just wondering if they are doing the landing interview before sponsorship approval?

Thanks!
