@sipfarms

If she returns before the OWP is issued then she will not be allowed to return to work until the work permit is issued. As she has a current work permit once that expires she goes into what is known as 'implied status' which means that although she does not have a current work permit she is allowed to continue working. However under implied status you cannot leave the country and then return to work. Implied status is lost as soon as you board a plane or step over the border to America. This is a tough choice she has. I personally had to miss my sisters wedding due to my work permit expiring 5th February and I have been under implied status until then. I am hoping my work permit might (albeit a slim chance) be issued before my friends wedding in the UK on May 27th.

Less than 15 days for AOR! If it rains like this I hope it pours. Now waiting for OWP.

@crais84

Thanks for the info. I feel your pain. I've just received an email from dd and she has been & spoken to the border security officers directly as they make the final decision. Got to talk to a real person. If she does not have her OWP by the time of re-entry they will most probably allow her into Canada as a visitor but if she has all her documents with her she can pay the work permit fee again & they can approve it on the spot. Did re-iterate that the decision is depending on circumstances & the people on the day & there is a chance that entry could be denied but we're happy. Now just has to work out with her employer whether she needs to pay the extra money for the work permit if it doesn't arrive by re-entry. She's getting on the plane. Yay!

Moral of the story. Check, check & double check everything in your applications.

Hey hey,
The OWP part of the spreadsheet looks frighteningly empty for 2016 - does anyone have any updates in regards to their application?

@vaya

Have you received your AOR yet? Did you know there's a border security office on Vancouver Island? You may be able to check with them to make sure your application has actually been received.

We haven't received our AOR and only on my ECAS (sponsored person) it states that my application was received... Nothing for my husband yet.

BUT we just called CIC and asked what we should do about his AOR and the person told us that they are still working on applications of 2015 and no one in 2016 has received AOR yet?! I am very confused and frustrated at the moment.

welcome to the club!

have not received any communication from CIC either. The ECAS shows file received. reading this forum this seems not unusual.

Oh my... :( That's your ECAS as sponsored person? But nothing sent etc.? Have you ever contacted CIC about this? Just sent a case enquiry...

PS: I saw that you received AOR - was that just the online ECAS information?

These are the details on the ECAS of my sponsor:

Sponsorship

We received your application to sponsor XXXXXXXXXXXX on March 31, 2016.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on April 13, 2016.
We started processing your application on April 12, 2016.

We did get an e-mail with the AOR on April 13 with the sponsor UCI and application number, so my guess is that they use the word correspondence ambiguosly to refer to either e-mail or physical mail. Maybe that's why some people expect to get the document in the mailbox and it never arrives. These are just guesses or maybe you guys already knew this, anyway I hope it helps.

If I have understood this correctly, the AOR would reflec under the "Sponsor" ?

Also, it is encouraging news to see March'2016 applicants receiving the AOR in almost 15 days. :)

correct, "correspondence" means email or regular mail. you will get one or the other, not both. if you received an email, you won't get a regular letter.

Yes, AOR is received by the sponsor.
