So if we have AIP (that is just file number from an automated email) can we get OHIP on that basis?

If you read the links I provided, it will tell you what you need to know. Also, http://settlement.org/ontario/health/ohip-and-health-insurance/ontario-health-insurance-plan-ohip/who-is-eligible-for-ohip/

The short answer, this is the important part (Part B):
"
You applied for permanent residence and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada. This means that you have "approval-in-principle."
"

And AIP is a letter that tells you that you are eligible to apply for PR. Not an AOR which just gives you the file number.

If you do have AIP, yes you can register for OHIP. But what you describe is not an AIP, that rather sounds like an AOR (acknowledgment of receipt).
An AIP letter will state something like "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class. Please note that a final decision will not be made until all remaining requirements for becoming a permanent resident have been met."

OR A work Permit + A letter from your (full-time) employer stating: your start date, your role, a brief description of the job you do, and that they intend to employ you for at least the next 6 months.

So, this works for people who have the OWP.

Hey guys,

I am a March 14 2016 applicant. I sent medical and police clearance upfront. I've been checking myCIC all year and all it said was "application received ". I usually check about once every few months or so. Never saw a change until today.

Along with "application received" I saw " Medical results received ". Does that mean they are now working on my application?

The only correspondence I received from CIC was in May 2016 when they confirmed they received my package. Should I be getting SA or AIP soon being that they have my medical and I wouldn't need to redo it. What are the next steps?

Thanks

They are working on Mid-March now. We are March 2, 2016 and we got SA March 21, and AIP a week later on March 28. They did ask us to re-do an expired medical (they have told us to 'hurry up' with it; they are ready to decide on the app). The automated attendant said March 8th or something?

Thanks profiler, that's good news then congrats. Do you think I will need to redo my medical although it says "We have received your medical results "?

So if its March 8th that means I'm next. Should I do my happy dance now?

Thanks. When does your medical expire (what is the validity date)? My wife's side of ECAS says the same, despite them wanting it redone.

I am not sure. I did it January 2016. Not sure how long its valid for. How long was your wife's valid for?

They are only valid for a year. My wife did her first one in November 2015, so it expired Nov 25 2016. They approved the results a month before it expired (October 2016). Now they want them again.

You know, April 12th cannot come soon enough for me. I am wondering what and how fast things will progress after that date...

Oh man. I hope that's not the case with me. I'm not sure how long they had "medical results received " on my cic as I do not check very often. I hope its been there before March 14 and hopefully they reviewed and accepted it.
