Sage Advice Here: Ignore the Date Modified. From what I have discovered from reading, they are probably spending an hour per case looking at evidence. There is a high likelihood that they have not even looked at anyone before August 25 2015 as of right now.

So, Stay on Canadavisa.com and answer questions, or loiter, but try not to dwell on what your case is doing. I think I projected 7 weeks for you -- so check ECAS in 7 weeks. I bet there will be a present for you then...

What was that calculation you mentioned a few posts ago ?
Each week seems to be worth 2 weeks of backlog time.

Figure out how many weeks you are from the current date on the automated attendant (888-242-2100) to when you giled. Then add that difference to today's date and half it.

EDIT:

By my guesstimations, that would put them in pretty reasonable shape to deliver on their promise of all backlogged applications to be completed by December. *IF* (big if) they continued at the present rate:

1 month (on the calendar) = 2 weeks of actual time, or 2 weeks for every actual week. So, we have 52 weeks to work with (give or take a holiday -- I think they should give a holiday up :)), and we have 120 weeks to play catch up with (assuming they also want to show progress on new applications too -- also assuming the FIFO they promised it was -- and 120 wks is from Aug 25 2015 -> Dec 12 2017).

With 52 weeks of actual time, that means they could in theory process 104 weeks of applications (at present clip). They would be damned close to flushing the backlog completely. Unless my math went horribly wrong. In that case, my next career will be Horse whisper, or sales...

We are 190 days from the present "August 25 2015" date they announce on the automated attendant. So, that's 27.143 wks. 27.143 / 2 = 13.5715. Add that to today's date, and I am guessing my wife will be done on or before Monday April 24 2017.

Hi All,

I am new to this forum. I got married last year in September. My Husband is Canadian. So we are now starting to look at the documents to apply inland.

My PGWP expires in May.

What forms do we need to submit for the Spouse Open Work Permit? And do we need to submit it with Spousal Application or can it be submitted online?

We tried to look online but we kept going around in circles trying to find the forms needed for the Spouse Open Work Permit.

Any information is helpful.

Thank you :)

here is how you can proceed to complete the OWP quickly:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp

Include:
- Document Checklist [IMM 5556]
- Marriage Certificate Photocopy
- Passport Photocopy (include the stamp from which he entered Canada last); you can also include a photocopy of his latest TRV.
- Use of a Representative (if he wants you to be able to talk to CIC on his behalf)

In: Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker [IMM 5710]:
Enter your UCI (from his PR Application) in Box 1
Box 3:
"*An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer" should be checked.

Details of Intended work in Canada:
Box 1: Open Work Permit
Leave Box 2 -> 7 empty

Fill in the rest. Sign and date. Go to 'Pay your fees': http://www.cic.gc.ca/ENGLISH/information/fees/index.asp

Work Permit: "Pay your work permit (including extensions) fee – Canada" under the Temporary Resident ("What are you paying a fee for", then selecting "Work Permit (including extensions)" and click 'Get Payment Instructions')
Pay:
- Work Permit: $155
- Open work permit holder: $100

Thank you so much profiler.

There is another dilemma we are facing. My passport expires in early Feb 2018. I hope to submit my documents by latest March 2017.

Right after I plan on getting my passport renewal. How do we let CIC know that I have new documents? Also how will this affect my paperwork? Should I hold off on the passport renewal?

Renew now is my opinion.

Your OWP will only be issued until your passport expires - 1 month. So January 2018 or December 2017.

The process to let them know, is just scan a pdf, and send via Case Specific Enquiry: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp .

So once I get my passport, and lets just say for worse case scenario it comes after I submit my Spousal Application. Then I will need to reapply for an extension of the OWP closer to the expiration date..?

OWP is best applied with the inland PR application. This is because, once they start processing, there is no guarantee that the other processing office that handles OWP's will see the inland PR application (it could be in various stages or pre-processing). This could lead to an erroneous refusal or return of the OWP application. If the OWP is sent with the inland PR, it will be linked by CPC-Mississauga, and it's issuance is pretty much guaranteed (assuming you are in status when you apply, that is).

So, I would seriously consider getting your passport renewed first, before submitting an inland PR application + OWP to CIC.

So I should apply for my passport right away, I will work on that.

Since my PGWP is expiring in May 23, 2017, what is the lastest date by which i would need to submit my Sponsorship application and OWP?

Sorry for all the questions, Our heads are spining with all the paperwork that needs to be done.

If you want to work on May 24 2017, then today it should be in Mississauga.

If you can bear a few months of not working, then I would make sure it was in the CIC mail room no later than May 22 2017. This would put you under implied Visitor status until they "decide" (send) the OWP.

I have a question
Now that I finally got my OWP, do I have to go anywhere to validate it, or to issue a document, anything like this?
I didn't find anything on the internet, I don't know if it is a dumb question
