@pedropil: My MP called back today to verify that they did receive our PCC on Sept 6 (that was the courier delivery date). So, it's totally natural and cool that they just don't want to talk to you...
As you will be landing soon, I thought I gotta start polishing a crystal ball myself, just to keep the tradition around here when you will be in hangover recovery ;Dprofiler said:Pfffftt.... you don't know that she will land by then!
So, here is the thing about the crystal ball. Two more June 16-18 landings happened (I didn't announce).maria_mirabela said:As you will be landing soon, I thought I gotta start polishing a crystal ball myself, just to keep the tradition around here when you will be in hangover recovery ;D
Do you accept donations in booze and positive thoughts to keep the crystal shinny and happy?profiler said:So, here is the thing about the crystal ball. Two more June 16-18 landings happened (I didn't announce).
I have been toying with the idea of offering a replacement/extension to the current spreadsheet.. I didn't just guess, I actually used statistics to identify the pattern. I have written software that does more complex correlation than what I had to do to find the pattern. So, my blood, sweat and (kitten) tears would be a donation to those who struggle along side, and after us.
However, no one seems interested in something like that. The magic CIC crystal ball...
No. If I drink any more beer, I might lose body parts, or have to sleep in the basement... If there is a reasonable interest, then I might do it.maria_mirabela said:Do you accept donations in booze and positive thoughts to keep the crystal shinny and happy?
In my opinion, everyone is interested in your algorithm. Your ball a had lot of feedback lately...
Haha, ironic that she would choose to celebrate being granted immigration status in a country by immediately booking a ticket to leave. Doesn't say too much for Canada.profiler said:Pfffftt.... you don't know that she will land by then! So her plans include booking a flight to Moscow (that day, apparently) before she drags me to a music venue. Neither of us (apparently) will be driving home.
Well, I did mention to her what it looks (and feels) like. But from her perspective, this is the longest she has been away from her family and friends. Her mom did "occupy" our basement for a couple weeks not long ago, but she hasn't seen people from home in some time now. So she feels the urge to go back to see them. She admitted that she needs to see that they have moved on before that feeling will subside. That and her granny is 87 and in failing health...polarvolcano said:Haha, ironic that she would choose to celebrate being granted immigration status in a country by immediately booking a ticket to leave. If I was stuck in Cambridge, Ontario I would feel the same way. Might as well be in Vladivostok. I would rather live in Moscow, why didn't you move there instead of the other way around? You can get a residence permit immediately and citizenship in 3 years. Moscow is cool. Anyway, I'm sure you considered it.profiler said:Well, I did mention to her what it looks (and feels) like. Cambridge isn't terrible. Kitchener sure as hell is. I am in tech, and KWCG is an innovation and tech mega-centre. So, her being in financial services, and me being in tech, this region has the highest employment possibilities on the planet (within the industrialised world) that would satisfy both our careers. Add to that, that she can attend Uni for free (as long as she wants), and I require the services of a medical doctor every few weeks, and every year that involve surgery that is specialised enough that they wrote about my case in a medical journal. That happens in Toronto, and costs OHIP $10k.polarvolcano said:If I was stuck in Cambridge, Ontario I would feel the same way. Might as well be in Vladivostok. That's funny, we live in Toronto and we're determined in few years to buy a property OUTSIDE of Toronto, Milton or anywhere but here.profiler said:She wants us to move to Toronto...which I laugh incessantly at.
Ya Toronto is for millionaires like you and browning911. Cambridge is reasonably priced still. Even Guelph shot up in price as people try to escape the GTA.maria_mirabela said:That's funny, we live in Toronto and we're determined in few years to buy a property OUTSIDE of Toronto, Milton or anywhere but here.
Had some friends got a 3 bedroom house in Paris for about $300k. Try check Toronto prices for the same type of house.... it's outrageous!
I love Milton! and it;s a few minutes drive to Toronto, so hubby can keep the job and I can look for something here too.profiler said:Ya Toronto is for millionaires like you and browning911. Cambridge is reasonably priced still. Even Guelph shot up in price as people try to escape the GTA.
Funny you mention Milton ... this guy was born there and lived the first 12 years of his life there. In those days, there was 20,000 ppl in the town....
Cambridge is only an extra 20 on that. If you avoid the destruction zone....maria_mirabela said:I love Milton! and it;s a few minutes drive to Toronto, so hubby can keep the job and I can look for something here too.
