Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving.

A Background Check is needed In Progress

When I logged on it said Status Updated and then it showed that. It was not like this yesterday.

BTW, I know someone posted on the forum a guesstimate on how long it takes but I tried searching and cannot located the thread.

Profiler, could you please send the link again where CIC explains the sponsorship application process. I remember you posted it last week (Thanks again!) and I was reading if but forgot to add to my favourites.

Thanks everyone for your posts. You all definitely make the waiting process easier.
EDITED to include links

You as well!

Great to hear BG checks started!

How long it takes? To finish from BG in progress, or?

I'm on my cell, so the links aren't easy to get! You'll want to google:

So what you're saying is after they receive the PCC it'll take 4 maths before the landed comes through? Why so long? I mean it's not like ppl haven't been waiting long enough. This process is way too long 26 mths it honestly should really take a year. Even applying for your citizenship is too long

No that's not what I am saying. It's specific to cases in SIR.

I am saying, for those who have applications that are in the targeted group for "Spousal Inventory Reduction" may see the pattern of PCC -> Landing in <= 4 months. For those people it has been less than a year -- for us, if we land in December it will be 9 months. And she is from an unfriendly and uncooperative country.

Why so long? Well, it's not like the CIC has 70,000 other inland applications, right? And it's 22 month average right now.. Here is the open statistics from June: http://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/53105221-7652-47b1-96e2-1f85715a067c

You bet buddy.

If you look at the evidence contained in the spreadsheet (and assuming errors) we should be landing before Christmas, and polarvolcano should be in the next wave; barring redirection to a local VO for interview etc. Of course, you have to accept that people have left us behind, so all the evidence might not be there -- but about 95% of those who got the PCC request, and sent it in according to instructions, have landed already... I hope my crystal ball is correct for everyone!
profiler, Did you found out on what is the action of CIC on the other applicants who first received the PCC second request? who did the same thing to us, mailing the explanation letter including certified true copy of PCC or just a copy and CSE as well.

What about you polarvolcano?

Thank you guys

I am not sure how many did the CSE + Courier. I have seen a few instances in the ~5% that didn't report a landing after 4 months of the PCC, but they claimed to only submit the PCC via CSE (which is a no-no; they need the original). I cannot narrow the margin any more than I have for you, I am afraid. There isn't enough information (and as noted above, the CIC has a ton of other cases they have to service as well).

I've only submitted the certified true copy of my PCC (Certified by our local MP here) less than 6 months from the date of issue to the AOR. I've explained that i am sure, very certain that i've already submitted it. my concern now if the CIC will accept that. still no reply after submission except on the CSE

Did you send it via Courier too? We sent the original by courier, and we have a signed response from Purolator showing Vegreville did get it.

One of the questions I asked, and no one on the forum answered was if IP-2, IP-8 and OP-8 are executed in sequence or not. I am starting to believe they are, which indicates we are pretty close to the finish line. Perhaps polarvolcano's GCMS notes might suggest something (ours are old now). I can tell you that in myCIC we still see: Status - Open; Medical Passed; Interview - Not needed at this time; Eligibility - Not Started...

But in the 2015 thread, they are reporting people going from AOR -> Landing. Do not pass SA, do not collect AIP.

Yes , via fedex and it's confirmed received at unit 909, CPC Vegreville AB last August 12 via tracking number. As of now still no acknowledgment from that unit 909 and as per CSE they already forwarded my concern on the concerned department. that's i've got for now. i'm kinda thinking now about that.

Try not to over-think. I know it's hard. I am defiantly not one to offer that advice here, as I should practice what I preach. But really, you had until the 9th of October to submit, right? Did they send a follow up message? If not, they got it. If they try to close your case, or take any follow up action, just show them the CSE + FedEx and advise them that you did all you could to get it to them. They would have to accept it and move on..

I had a look at the checklist, and it states that you have to submit the original PCC. So, I am not sure what to tell you here. You could try to order your GCMS notes, but lately they have been hit or miss for processing times.

I don't really know. Difficult to tell just from the comments column in the spreadsheet if they got a new PCC or just submitted a copy of the old one. Saw one person on there who landed before their USA PCC even made it to CIC.

I bet that's what happened to CanadianAl1en... they sent him a landing interview request before he could start working!

All joking aside:

You make a good point here. The PCC's have a shelf life of 6 months though I thought I had read somewhere. This is why the <= 4 months to land seemed to fit. They never really stop the background/security check until they issue the PR, so it seems to fit the time line.

Obviously take what I say with a grain. What you could do, is try to call the call centre to see if they can verify it was received or not. Tell them you are worried you didn't hear from anyone about it. Not something you'd want to do everyday, but express that they did have a threat to cancel the case if you didn't comply. They'd probably peek in at those case notes for you ;)

What do you think is the reason behind this second PCC request? even the request letter is confusing.
