We live in Cambridge. So, the Brantford situation happened after a massive ice jam blocked the Grand River. It almost took out a main bridge (for HWY 97 - Concession St). Here are some Twitter pics from HWY 24 after the jam broke:

The 401 lost 2 lanes @ HWY 24 today because a sinkhole opened up. During rush hour.

That's going to cause massive traffic back ups on the nations heaviest traveled road the 401.. I love the show Heavy Rescue 401..

Np. The ice choked off the river. If you see, some of those pieces look at least 10" thick. That can only mean the water carried it there.

It's down south of me. We certainly have ponding and such going on, but I am closer to Guelph.

"Such is life" (@sylvain1 can correct me -- I'm rusty). And we speak two languages here ;).

It's a neat show. But eventually gets boring. It's the main artery that connects Quebec and Ontario to the mid-west US. The show states it cannot be closed (save for an accident/death scenario).

The building I work at, has window (ring-side) seats that can see the highway. Max speed right now might be 40km/h. In perspective, that's a 100km/h road. Shortly after it was reported, the westbound side was backed up to HWY 6. Google's traffic map is only showing it slow through the area of the actual hole. So, I guess we might be good to go.

How come everyone has so many updates? I tried to check online tool every week but just application received for the whole year. And suddenly descion made. Was is because I sent medical and police stuff with my application at first? Also I am scared to call them lol. Couple years ago I applied for Canada tourism visa in USA, I sent an email requesting when can I know the result and couple days later i was refused.

Yes, or simply "that's life!"

But, beside in Quebec province, I don't think the language is much a matter of debate. Here, it's always a very hot topic.

They can decide on complete applications very quickly. You likely didn't catch them while they were waiting for something. Don't be afraid to call them. If you have a decision, that's likely a great sign and no issues at all.

Thanks for the correction -- I haven't spoken much since the 1990's...

We may actually at some time down the road move into Fergus or close to it... we just really love that area and it frigging snows way to much up here,, we are stuck between 3 large bodies of water here,, I love Barrie and Collingwood,, BUT moving south will be a good thing....

Hey we should have a Immigration Forum get together this summer for those in the area,, it would be cool to meet you and your other half...

My wife speaks English until she is mad then her Scottish fire red headed accent comes out, I just speak southern red neck lol

I like the other show as well out in BC,, with the wrecker guys,,, Id love to go to the Canadian Rockies one day

Sure thing. South isn't better in Ontario. Further south you go, the more snow (I know, that sounds ridiculous -- but it's lake-effect snow).

I think Crazed-Scot might be a third (unofficial) language. WRT 'red neck' -- I hope you don't plan to hunt squirrels! That might be a deal-breaker for your first suggestion -- my wife lived in an area where they never saw them. So, she has an affinity. ;)

Same. I've never been out that way. Different problems. But still tough jobs.

Will do!

Yeah, I am a PR now. The thing is during my landing interview, there was something wrong with Foss so I didn't get COPR. I linked the PR card application said it is submitted today and under applicant says primary. Any idea when would i get PR card? 2 months after today or Feb 1st

About 60 days after you land.

That's great. Even if the PR card processing office just got my COPR copy today? Immigrantion officer didnt get my signature till last week.

How do you know they only got it today? They do need the signature to process it.
