OTTAWA — Equating time served in the community with time spent in jail opens up the door to absurd possibilities within immigration law, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled Thursday.

In an unanimous decision, the court said conditional sentences do not count as jail time when it comes to deciding whether permanent residents convicted of a crime should lose their status in Canada.

Is this so........

Yes it could be normal, mycic is not always updated and the information you get when you call is what appears on mycic.

Regarding eligibility not started. I have gcms notes from March 8th stating it wasn't started, but we got SA, AIP and DM about 2 weeks later.
Then the status remained in progress until she landed (even with the DM letters already in hands). So don't worry, it may come at anytime now.
Thank you!! We are counting the days ! =) cheers

Decision made on sponsor side and application received on the other.
So you have SA for sure (whether you received a letter or not). Did you receive an AIP letter (sent to the principal applicant and telling you meet eligibility)? If yes, the only DM is missing. The timeline is very variable and seems to depend mainly on your security checks.

Yes. The crime has to be "major" -- 10 years in prison. That said, only a court can take it away, once awarded.

But, I would just avoid all that stuff..

A big hello to everyone! Question regarding the expiration date of a Medical. Is it one year to the actual date of when the medical was done or one year to when IRCC recieves it? Also, is it common that they let it expire? Thanks anyone.
