Aug.23.2016 applicant, today I received a letter that they need proof of relationship. Do I need to send everything like both drivers license and lease agreement and etc. or one should be enough?
When I called CIC, the operator said that they started reviewing eligibility. They were doing the background check for so long. I onle received my work permit 2 months ago after 8 months.

My husband called our MP and advised them of the timeline on our case to get them involved. We had to sign forms to give him permission to inquire about it. They contacted CIC to find out what the hold up is on our case, and were advised that it was sent for review of decision on 8/2/2017. They advised the MP that they have 26 months to do this processing from start to finish. The MP had told us they shortened that time frame to 12 months, but technically they have 16 months total to do a case. Our application was received on 7/25/16. Med Checks were approved on 7/21/17. All documentation is approved and nothing is missing from case. It was sent to review on 8/2/17. We are closing in on October and are technically at the 14th month. We were advised by the MP that we just had to wait until a decision was made. They advised us to go ahead with extending our children's student visas since there were no guarantees how much longer this would take. If the DM came through before their visas were processed we could request a refund. If processing begins the same time DM comes, we will not be eligible for the refund. Unfortunately, I am unsure which time line is correct. 26 months, 16 months, or the 12 months per the recording on IRCC. Any suggestions? Looks like we are just waiting at this point and its just dragging along. Unfortunately, our MP wasn't able to get any information more than I already knew, and was unable to speed things along.

We met out MP for second time today. Our MP was only able to find information that we already know as well. The only information CIC was able to provide was that they still have another 13 months to process my application as well. I think you should prepare for the worst case as I am. CIC also said that my security check started very late (Started early july 2017) considering my application was received July 28 off 2016 but cannot tell why it started so late in the application.

Our background stuff took a while as well, not as long as yours mind you. It is just really frustrating that they set a timeline of 12 months. You jump through hoop after hoop, and then when you think I am at the end now...not much longer to go- your hope soars and then boom! brick wall. It seems that most people have an agonizing wait until their med checks and it flies by...that is what happened with us...we got AIP and everything was moving so fast for like a month and then....nothing! We are told, "oh well we actually have 26 months...yes all we are doing is reviewing the case to make the decision, no we aren't lacking anything. No everything has been accepted and approved, and passed. No, there is nothing else we need from you. You just have to wait. A timeframe, oh I am sorry we cannot provide that to you, its unclear."

Why is there a timeframe of 12 months being told to people in the first place....I am so baffled. Its just so frustrating. Obviously I have a patience issue...that or I am just at the end of my rope from being patient this long. lol. Good luck on your case...I hope we both get results soon.

12 months is for applicant after Dec 2016. At least your security is done... I am preparing to renew my passport & Work permit since both of them expires this year December 31. I have to make a case to my country to defer my military services somehow as well!

Hope we get our landing interview real soon!
