Thank You !Congratulations on your DM!
You are waiting for your DM on applicant side!
It includes medical, background and security.... most likely you are waiting for your security cleared just like me...
I heard from some professional (Profi....er) saying it could take 2-6 months..
It will depend if they have started your Security screening, and if so, when. Usually that is the longest part of the second stage. You can call the call centre (888-242-2100) and ask them for a status update, and then ask if they have started the security check -- if so -- when. It can be 3-6 months for them to complete it. At least that was the old time frame. Lately they seem to be done in less than a month (assuming your life to date wasn't too interesting).
Not for a Canadian. PR sponsors have to remain in Canada. PR applicants generally shouldn't leave, as there is no way to know what will happen at the border when they try to return. Thanks alot for information.. my wife is canadian citizen .. is she can go alone to back home for month ? Does this thing put any negative effect on our process ?

Is there still a chance they can call us for interview where they found something suspicious in relationship? Even after getting AIP?
You really missed your calling in life, @sylvain1. Instead of academia, you could have been a spinster! That was perfect marketing, right there...@Sigurjot no, having AIP means that CIC is satisfied with the proofs you submitted that you are cohabiting and in a genuine relationship. So no relationship interview. But you could win the lottery for a QA interview.
After AIP they will complete the medical, criminality, and security checks. Once that's done, they will advise you that processing is complete, and that the local CIC office will contact you for an "interview" (which is a landing; and it's a simple process like getting a driver's license). At that appointment, you will be given a paper (Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR)), and will be told to expect a PR Card in the mail within 6-12 weeks.
Once you have the COPR, you will go to Service Canada to get a permanent Social Insurance Number (SIN), and will go to the province's ministry of health office to get your health care straightened.
Once the PR Card comes, you can freely travel to and from Canada. After 5 years, you will need to renew that card.[/QUOT
We haven't receive SA, but CIC requested for medical last week and my husband had it done yesterday. Background check is still ongoing for few months now, so i'm wondering what will be next after this...or what stage are we in now in the processing?
Is there such a thing? I have not heard of a medical for visitors.Hi guys, does anyone know about upfront medical exam for coming here on a visitor visa? How do you get this form if you are outside of Canada? IMM1017B. My friend went to the panel physician and they told her that she needs to have the form before exam can be done. She is applying online for visitor visa.
You can still see a QA interview. That's where they double check the whole file to make sure the processing was done correctly. This includes a face to face interview, where they can ask anything.
They are rare, but are becoming more popular with the speedup of processing.
Once you see Decision Made in ECAS, that's when it's only the landing that remains.
