Hello All,

I submitted my application for my wife sponsorship and the processing information is as follows:

Sponsorship Application status: (Decision made)

We received your application to sponsor XXXX on July 22, 2011.

We started processing your application on September 28, 2011.

We sent you a letter on October 20, 2011 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

Permanent Residence Application Status: (Application Received)

We received XXXX's application for permanent residence on July 22, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

On Nov 15, she got an email from HCC (Delhi) with a pdf referring to her and asking her to submit her passport. The passport reached the HCC on Nov 18 and till date there was no information available. On Dec 9, 2011 she got a reply for the query she wrote and it read as follows : "This Family Class application was received by our office after being forwarded by Case Processing Centre Mississauga. This application is currently pending initial review, after which we will contact the applicant directly to advise the outcome of the review and any next steps."

When I try to track via her UCI # and her details, there is no file existing

Does this mean that they have not started the process, and if so why would they ask for the passport in the first place?

Hi there,

You need to check your status on ecas by using the File no alongwith the Applicant's (person being sponsored) details. Enter the "given name" that you entered on the application forms.

New Delhi asks for the passport early on in the process but takes its own sweet time to issue the visa. Its a misconception that once they ask for the passport, you are getting the visa back in a few weeks time.

You can join this thread to better understand the process. It has applicants from New Delhi who are in a similiar situation as yours.
