I just received my husband’s FBI Rap Sheet today. I want to do the spousal sponsorship in March but I am worried about his application being denied. I don’t know how to equate the US convictions to the Canadian equivalent. I also am not sure if the dismissed charges will affect his application (Rap Sheet says Dismissed Superseded beside some of the charges, I believe because he accepted a plea deal). I can’t afford a lawyer so hoping I can get some advice here. If we submit all the info and it is denied will they give us a letter indicating why and would he be able to apply again with the criminal rehabilitation application?

If he is denied, the letter will say he has been denied due to criminal inadmissibility. If he qualifies, he can then apply for rehabilitation.

Thank you for the response. I guess I am just so anxious about this whole process and it is causing me to overthink and put off submitting the application.
