Family sponsorship
Hi,
Please help me out. My wife is a Canadian but I'm Ghanaian. After dating for about 6years in Ghana. She recently travelled back to Canada for a year and came back for our wedding in March. We discovered she was pregnant a week after she returned to Canada in May, this year. She intends to sponsor me join her but I fear she might not be able to work to sponsor and also she lives alone which I'm not comfortable with. She intends to stay to give birth there. I want to be by her to support her and work for us to prepare for our new friend (child). I fear if there are delays in the sponsorship I might not get to help my wife and kid in time. What is the way forward? Any help??
Thank you

If you had a visa to visit Canada, you could apply for spousal sponsorship INLAND while your visa is still valid.

She may have to sponsor you OULAND as you reside in Ghana and it takes around 10 to 12months to complete the spousal sponsorship process........so if she will sponsor you, the earlier you start the better......the process takes time and a wait game.

After applying for spousal sponsorship Outland........chances of getting approval for visitor visa is very low.

Spousal Sponsorship guides and checklists.

Good Luck

Thank you so much Wakki,
please what visa may I need, how long could it take to get and long could the visa last roughly while I'm in Canada? I really don't want my wife and kid to suffer. What do you advice per your experience pls?

Unfortunately pregnancy has no bearing on the application. Unless she is bed ridden she is more than capable of working during the process until the birth.

Visit visa is for 6 months stay if its approved and issued............approval rate may be very low.

Spousal Sponsorship PR visa takes 10 to 12months to complete but the PR visa grants you indefinite stay in Canada.

It is not guarenteed each stay is 6 months. Its completely up to the cbsa agent the time granted for the stay. They take many factors into decision when allowing a visitor i to canada.

I suggest reviewing the visitor visa section of this forum for more information

Hi

The honest truth is that you are unlikely to be approved for a TRV; with a Canadian spouse and a baby on the way, you are a huge risk to overstay. A spousal sponsorship app will not be approved before the birth of your child.
