Hi there,

Firstly, Wish you a very Happy New Year to All.. In my situation, I have heard a lot of suggestions and I would appreciate if you guys can guide me with right advise based on your knowledge and experience.

I am a permanent resident in Canada, and I met my love in September 2015, she is currently on student visa for one year expiring in May 2016. We both went back to met our parents in India, we are now engaged.

We are planning to come back to Canada and later get married and move in together in about March or so, and file up the inland sponsorship for her. The situation in which i seek advise are:-

1. Shall we apply to extend her study permit for one more year which will lead to 3 year post-graduate work permit, while awaiting for the spousal application. OR after the completion of one year study just apply for the 1 year post-graduate work permit and later if required one year open work permit under the spousal visa application.

2. Shall we get married and apply for the spousal immigration visa application before the application of study permit or work permit. OR after the work permit or extension of study permit is granted.

Me and my fiancee is looking to start a health and better life, and we both agreed it will be best if be both be working full time after her study is completed. But the argument of one year study will lead to only one year work permit and so on, and the processing for inland is more than 2 years. We like to keep things easy and smooth. I would really appreciate any insights and experience if you can share.

Regards.

Hi

Apply outland. New Delhi is a fast office and she would be a PR before the one year PGWP expires.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.
As per yesterday, the processing time in new Delhi was 2months and today the processing time has been changed to whole general time of 18 months and inland is 2months.

Delhi was never 2 months. I think you are referring to first stage approval for outland processing.

Inland is not 2 months. It's approximately 26 months.

Hi,

Yes, I'm sorry.. somehow the second digit in both time is omitted.

The processing time in new Delhi is 20 months (2+18)

And inbound is 26 months. Sorry for the confusion before.

If you're applying outland, please ignore the posted processing times, they are not accurate. For straightforward cases with minimal red flags, you can expect your spouse to get the PR visa in 6-8 months rather than the posted 18 months.

If you see my example, my wife's Singapore Office's processing time was 30 months at the time, she got her visa in 6 months.

Never ever apply inland, it's a decision you will regret.
