Hi I am starting a thread to know about the timeline and stage of SOWP.
August 17 Application submission, no update yet.

i am on my visitor visa and have applied for my inland spousal application and SOWP. how about you?

Submitted OWP July 3, last update was Biometrics completed on Sept 6. I heard some late-June OWP applicants got approval recently (May Inland sponsorship applicants).

we have BIL for SOWP as well? I did one for my inland application and same is update in the work permit application as well. I am confused now

it’s the same for me too, GCkey show the latest biometric in both applications
you need to provide a separate one for temporary resident (work/study/visit) but it’s good for 10 years so you’re fine if you already provided within the last 10 years

I think this thread is confusing what's required for various types of work permits.

This sub-forum (family sponsorship) is ONLY about sponsorship for PR of family members. Getting work permits through spouse is NOT the type of sponsorship this refers to.

Getting a work permit during the sponosrhip process is a different thing.

As far as I'm aware, ALL applicants for PR status - including spousal sponsorship - have to submit biometrics. (This was suspended for a while during covid, but only temporarily). No need to do this in advance, IRCC will request when needed.

For other types of work permits: I don't know, post in the appropriate forum.

My husband, the PA, did not have biometrics done yet, so they requested them for OWP. They happened to request them for OWP before they requested them for the sponsorship application, so he ended up having to do them twice. PR biometrics can be applied to any temporary residence application, but not the other way around.
