Hi guys I'm sorry to bother you, but I am really concerned and confused.
I don't know 100% if I need the military card or not. I haven't served the army nor the police nor anything like that, and I didn't get the military card, ever. It would be almost impossible for me to get it right now. The website doesn't say I'd need the military card, apparently it would be if I served the military or something, which like I said, I didn't. But it's not clear, it's not specific. In case I didn't have it, would the whole application be thrown away because of that single thing? Although I guess my main question is if I need the military card or not.
Thank you very much, you're all so kind.
Enjoy the day and rest of week, I hope you all had a good Valentine's day with your partners

I'm not sure if you figured this out, but if you haven't served in the military or anything, you wouldn't need to provide this. My wife never served in the military and we never provided anything like that. So you should be good.

Also just to let everyone know, the embassy in Bogota sent us an email last Thursday asking us to send in my wife's passport. She just got an email today (three days later!) saying the visa is ready for pick up tomorrow morning. So that only took three days! Anyways, pretty exciting!

I know it takes longer for other people but we sent it in the same day we got the email and who knows why but they were able to process it super quick!

The landing was great sponsoring. When she landed in toronto it was quick and they were very friendly with my wife. They even gave her a little welcome present along with all the info she will need. The colombian side was actually harder on her at the airport where they were asking her questions aggressively and left with her passport for a while without telling her anything. We went to get her sin number today and it was very easy. We also tried to get her ohip card but they said without proof of address we cant start the proccess. We opened up a bank account for her today and once she gets her first statement mailed in we can use that. They said the wait for the statement doesnt really matter because she cant get the ohip card until 3 months after she lands. Congrats Bree, that is great to hear!

Hi, not sure if you've already found the answer to your question but Bogota Immigration did ask us for a copy of my husband's "Libreta Militar" which he didn't have so we he had to get it and we had to have it translated of course also. He has never been in the Military either.

Hello Everyone,
Just dropping by to say HELLO and to ask if anyone has landed recently. I'm finally landing on May, we already got the tickets and I'm very excited yet a bit worried about which papers do I have to have with me when I enter Canada. I know I have to have a COPR, but is it necessary to have a detailed list of everything I have in my bags??

Congrats to those who have received COPR!

Hope you are all doing well!

;D

Hi JJ628. My wife landed 3 weeks ago. She didn't not make a detailed list of everything and nobody asked her for it. She brought along her diplomas and a few of the other things listed just in case but they didnt ask to see anything but her copr and passport. She was out of immigration in 5 minutes. See my earlier post for more details. Good luck!

Hi, my wife sent the passports to Canadian Embassy in Bogota 37 days ago and since today we don't have any answer. It is terrible the slowness with which working the people there. Have you the dates recently about the resident visa ? Is more longer for people with a dependent child ?

Hi Claude,
We also sent the passport 31 days ago, and nothing since then. We actually grew worried that they had gotten it at all, so we tried calling (no luck) and e-mailing (they say they don't confirm the reception of any documents by e-mail). Then we decided to call our local MP (député fédéral), who are usually willing to help in these situations. They had me fill a form to authorize them asking on my behalf and the very same day, they got back to me.

They said the embassy did have the passport, that it was just the normal timeline. They said they had received it 5 days after we actually sent it (my husband went to drop physicially drop it at the embassy...), so that might explain a little delay. The MP will have access to any notes in your file. Other than that, the lady from the MP office said she would call every week from now on, which is a good news for us. It means at least they will put a little bit of pressure on them. She also said it was the very last stage and that they were printing the visa directly at the embassy... Courage!

Hi ClaudeB and Lamontana. how are things progressing ? what happened with the passports ?

My wife received her passport with Visa and CRP this Monday. The Embassy send it since the last week, but we had a problem with the adress. We didn't called CIC for give the new adress but we informed the Embassy twice. And, they never called or send any email to ask if the adress is correctly. Today, somoene from Embassy of Bogota called me to apologize for the long processus and to inform it if I received the documents. My wife will fly the next week to Canada. Hope that she don't be very disappointed by the weather here now.

Hi guys, just to let everyone know that my wife is flying to Canada today with her COPR. So hopefully everything goes smoothly and quickly at customs as there is only 1.5 hours between her connecting flight!

When we sent the passport in about a month ago, we got it back super fast. like 4 days later. kinda weird that it takes long for some people and not so long for others.

maybe they only send them out once or twice a month or something, and we just got in before the cut-off date.

I live in Winnipeg and it seems like this is the last week of very cold weather and that spring is starting (we actually have snow all winter here unlike other cities in Canada). So it's not a bad time to arrive.

Good luck to everyone!
