Hello!
My wife applied for PR under spouse sponsorship and I am her sponsor. She is a citizen of the Philippines.
I checked her application status online and it says:
1.We received your application for permanent residence on March 21, 2013.
2.We started processing your application on December 6, 2013.
3.Medical results have been received.
After reviewing some comments on this forum I realized that other applicants get requests for their passports after their online status changes to “In process”. But my wife received the email requesting for her passport and additional documents on September 2, 2013. The email said “At the end of this document is a request for additional documentation required within 45 days.” The documents requested included her passport.
We sent the passport to the Canadian Embassy in Manila on October 7, 2013. That is two months before the date that her online status changed to “In process”.
What worries me is that even two months after we sent the passport there is no indication on her online status that they have received the passport. When we sent out her medical information, it only took about a week for her online status to say “Medical results have been received” but no change has been made yet to show that they have also received the passport.
I tried emailing them and asking if they could just let me know if they have her passport, but I got no response. My wife emailed them as well but they didn't respond to her either.
When I track the shipment of her passport, it shows that someone has received the package but I don’t know why it doesn’t indicate that on her online status, months after we have sent it out. Please let me know if you have had a similar experience. Should I be concerned that they have not received my passport? Is it normal to get the passport request before the application goes “In process”?
Also if you have any opinions on how much longer this process is going to take, I would be very grateful for you sharing it with me.
Here is the shipment tracking information of my wife’s passport to the Canadian embassy in Manila:
